Offensive Explosion! Penny Didn’t “Get’er Done!”

Yankees Score 20 Runs in Demoralizing Blowout Of Sox!

Seriously, the hitting was scary last night. And so was the pitching. But whatever. The Yankees took the first game of the series by the score of 20-11! In the last Yankee/Red Sox series, the first game was a blowout followed by a 15 inning pitcher’s duel. Will there be a pitcher’s duel today? Because last night the pitching was horrible!

Pitching Analysis: Andy Pettitte pitched for the Yankees, and he was pretty bad. He went 5 innings and gave up 5 runs on 7 hits. He threw 105 pitches in 5 innings. That’s a little ridiculous. There were so many runs scored last night, so I don’t feel like going through how every run was scored. But trust me, Andy was not too good last night.

Tough night for Andy, but at least the Yanks won.

In relief of Andy came Brian Bruney. He pitched an inning and a third, didn’t give up any runs, but he walked 3 and got himself into a large jam. Damaso Marte was called upon to get out of Bruney’s bases loaded 1 out jam. Marte got his 2 batters out without allowing a run.

Sergio Mitre pitched the final 2 innings, which was a treat for me because I had no idea he would pitch last night and any chance I get to stare at him is fine with me! He had a nice 1-2-3 8th, but he had a little trouble in the 9th. He gave up 4 runs before nailing down the final out. But that doesn’t really matter. The Yankees had a huge lead, so I don’t blame Mitre for going after all the hitters with fastballs. And the more runs he gave up, the longer he would have to pitch, and then I could stare at him more before I went to bed. And he looked so good yesterday…it was hot and he was sweating…so….sexy…but I was glad when he got the last out. Poor baby, he must have been so hot and tired.

So the pitching was awful yesterday, but the Yankees managed to win. That’s cool.

Defensive Analysis: The Yankees were a bit sloppy yesterday. In the 6th, Cano made a throwing error. And the next batter hit a ball into shallow center that for some reason no one caught. Whatever. In the 7th, Swisher made an outstanding play to rob Pedroia of an extra-base hit.

Offensive Analysis: The offense was amazing yesterday. Obviously Brad Penny, (who in case you didn’t see my celebrity lookalike, he looks like Larry the Cable Guy,) was unable to “Get’er Done” last night. The Yankees pounded him nonstop for 4 innings, hitting line drives all over the field. The rest of the Smelly Sox pitchers were unable to “Get’er Done” as well!

Hideki had a huge offensive night!

There was so much offense last night and it will take forever to explain how all 20 runs were gotten, so I will just show this instead:

Jeter, SS 6 3 3 2 0 0 1 .333
Damon, LF 1 0 0 0 0 1 1 .284
  Hinske, LF 4 2 2 1 1 0 1 .257
Teixeira, 1B 5 3 3 3 1 0 2 .286
Rodriguez, A, 3B 4 2 4 1 1 0 0 .263
  a-Hairston, J, PH-3B 0 1 0 0 1 0 0 .257
Matsui, H, DH 6 2 2 7 0 1 6 .266
Posada, C 5 2 2 2 1 1 0 .275
Cano, 2B 6 2 1 1 0 0 4 .311
Swisher, RF 6 1 2 1 0 2 1 .246
Cabrera, Me, CF 6 2 4 2 0 0 0 .273
Totals 49 20 23 20 5 5 16

The offense was amazing last night. The pitching wasn’t, but the Yankees managed to get the win anyway. It was a demoralizing loss for the Smelly Sox last night. The heroes for the Yankee win are every member of the Yankee lineup. Everyone contributed. The Yanks now have a 7.5 game lead in the division! Alrighty then! GET ‘ER DONE BOYS!!! GO YANKEES!!!

I laughed at the comment you just left me about Mitre. I know you love him, but that ninth inning was just scary! How great was Matsui! Seven RBIs. Wow. I hope his knee held up after running around the bases. And I hope Damon will recover soon. He said he probably won’t play today or tomorrow. Bummer.

Oh goodness, what a crazy game!! Just watch though, there’s probably going to be a huge pitcher’s duel tonight and each team will have like one hit. HAHAHA!! Man, when the Red Sox and Yankees get together, straaange things happen. Loved the cuties and hotties, by the way. Kouz. Hands down. No doubt about it. He could probably represent all of the NL West 🙂

One good turn deserves another, as they say. We pounced on them last night, they pounced on us this afternoon. That happens, you just have to move on and keep your chin up.

As for last night’s game, it was definitely one of the most fun ones I’ve watched in a while. I love seeing this lineup destroy bad pitching, we do it so well. Great to see Matsui really getting it together, even better to see Alex go 4-4. I know he’s been having a rough season what with his hip and now his elbow giving him grief, so coming up big in Fenway was a fantastic thing to see. Now if our bullpen can just not give up runs when we have double-digit leads we’ll be all set.

*Man, we got worked yesterday… Burnett fell apart, and Ace couldn’t keep the runs in check either. That game was pretty brutal to watch, but I took it like a man and never changed the channel…

To answer your questions – I’m definently a dog guy. I have a jack russel terrier and a greyhound mixed with a jack russel. (How a greyhound mated with a jack russel still puzzles me… the size difference is pretty astonishing,) – but it happened lol. I don’t have a facebook yet, but I’ve actually been a music-producer since 15… I’ve been working on my music site for about 4 months now, so when I finish the page in a couple weeks, the facebook and myspace will come along with it. (So when the time comes, you better still want to be my friend!) I figure – you’re 16 and I’m 23… It’s an ‘age gap’ right now, but in 2 years when you’re 18, you’ll want the hot established 25 year old anyway… Hopefully by then I’m rich!

Back to baseball – Sabathia needs to do his thing today… These losses are double the damage when the team you’re losing to is breathing down your neck. Can’t wait to see what happens…

I love all your posts… I happened to be at this game, i live in albany ny so it was about a 3 hour drive to get to fenway, i just wanted to say that it was amazing to be a yankee fan at this game because of the awesome offensive explosion that had red sox fans moaning and groaning the whole night. And when the red sox fans started chanting Yankees Suck while they were down by 11 runs, us yankees fans came together and got a pretty good Red Sox Suck More cheer going…. I love all your posts so keep blogging, p.s. you look really cute as a little girl in that picture of you in the yankees dugout when you took torre’s pen 🙂

i was at this game and it was great to see the offensive explosion right in front of all the red sox fans faces. They were quiet and stunned… p.s. i love all your posts and you look cute in that picture of you in the yankees dugout when you took torres pen 🙂

Tex9: You picked a great game to attend! Glad you showed it to them Sox fans! The Yankee cheers are louder and stronger than the home crowds’ in any city they go to.
It means a lot to me that you enjoy my blog. I’ll keep it up for sure 🙂 And thank you, I was a cute 8 year old 🙂 -Virginia
