Oh, Cervelli!!!

OH! Oh my heart….my poor Cervelli….my poor heart….You know, all year long I was planning on writing Francisco a romantic Happy Birthday post…and today, his birthday,….oh!….I need him….he needs me…I wish I was there to baby him in his time of need….

I must control myself. It’s just that I woke up this morning, even more in love with Cervelli than I usually am. I have been seeing a lot of him on TV lately, and my love for him has blossomed once again. And I knew that today, March 6, is his birthday. I was planning on going shopping at the mall today early so I could be home in time for the game at 1. Of course, there was traffic, and I got back late. I ran upstairs and asked my brother, “Hi! What’s going on with the Yankees?”

He started to laugh.

“What?” Did Javier pitch? Was he bad?”

“No…” he responded

“What then?”

“Did he get another triple?”

“Uhh….no….you just missed it….they showed the replay.”

“Replay of what? What did he do?” I anxiously asked.

It was hard to understand him through his laughter.

“He….(chuckle)…he got hit in the head and got a concussion and got taken out of the game. He’s so dumb. He ducked right into the ball. It was so funny….the ball went up and he went down…(chuckle). If you don’t believe me keep watching.” He obnoxiously stated.

“WHAAAAT???? MY POOR BABY! Oh, and on his birthday too!” I nervously exclaimed.

“SHUT UP!” my Dad told me. “You are going to wake up Jesse.” (Jesse is my old dog, who was asleep in the other room.)

How was I supposed to just “shut up?” How insensitive of my Dad. If his true love, my Mom, got hit in the head and got a concussion, would he shut up? I wouldn’t think so.

I continued to watch the game. Later on, I heard that Cervelli was rushed to the hospital. Then I knew my brother wasn’t lying. It was official: my baby Cervelli was hurt, in pain…scared in a hospital. Oh, my heart!

Hopefully, Cervelli isn’t in too much pain. He suffered a concussion during Winter Ball. 2 concussions in a short amount of time is not healthy. Please, pray that he is alright.

I feel awful that this happened to my baby, but especially on his birthday. Now instead of writing about how much I love him, I worried about his health. Let’s try and move on….

Oh, Cervelli….I loved you ever since I saw you in Spring Training a few years ago get trampled by that sonofab!tch Elliot Johnson. Then when I saw you had returned, I thought you were so macho. I believed in you all the way, and I still do. I know you are going to be the best man for that catcher spot. And hopefully, maybe you will be the main catcher some day if Romine of Montero don’t get there first. You have heart….a lot of it, and your enthusiasm makes everyone smile. And aside from that, you are good! You never fail to call a fabulous game, or fail to woo me every time you play.

Francisco, everything about you is adorable: your high-socks, wrist pads, and no batting gloves. The way you take a time-out in yout at-bats to reach down, grab some dirt, and rub it into those precious hands. And when you are behind the plate – forget about it. I just can’t take my eyes of you. After you call that brilliant pitch and the batter strikes out, the way you throw the ball to either 1st or 3rd just gets me every time. And the way you talk! My heart melts when I see you being interviewed. You are just the cutest, most smiley, happy looking man…and I am that happy when I watch you.

Francisco, you are everywhere to me. When I close my eyes, it’s you I see…

Whoa. That reminds me of one of my favorite songs from my favorite musician. It applies so well to me and Cervelli….

Okay…in that video, pretend I am Michelle Branch and the guy (who really pales in attractiveness next to Cervelli) is Cervelli. That is the story of my life right there….

Francisco, I think it is apparent that I love you ♥ I hope I have made myself clear.

Feel better baby, and Happy Birthday. I can’t wait to see you play again.

Funny stuff. Back-up catchers never get the love they deserve, in the romantic and respect categories. Keep up the good work. Very Funny.

First of all, LMAOOOOOOO!!!!! You are too funny with your love of Cervelli. I can tell how much you adore him. That was why I took that picture of him at the game for you back in September.

In all seriousness though, concussions are nothing to take lightly. They are very dangerous injuries and he’s had three in his career. He’s also only 24 years old, so they want to be careful with him now.

Virginia, you are just too cute for words! I was beyond upset when Frankie got hurt. I thought I was gonna have to fly down to FL and kick some a$s! Our little booboo had a boo-boo! =( He should be back very, very soon though! YAY! ♥

Hopefully this spring training business continues without any really serious injuries/maladies. Hopefully my blog goes just as smoothly. XD. I think I’m back! =D Amazing job, as usual!

Hi Virginia, I really enjoy reading your blog and seeing your passion for the Yankees. On a side note my friend’s daughter was telling us one of the reasons she likes the Yankees is because the other teams have ‘ugly players’. LOL I think it is the clean cut look of the Yankees she likes.

Anyway, I wanted to say hello also because I live just north of you in Dutchess County. I will be checking back in your blog during the regular season.
