Happy New Year!

2010! It sounds so weird. January. That means baseball is closer. Pitchers and catchers report in February…I can do this. There is a lot I am looking forward to in this new year and the new baseball season coming up. Here are the top 5 things I want to see this year:

#5) Andre Ethier, my love ♥♥♥

If I am not mistaken, the Yankees will play the Dodgers this year during interleague play. I HAVE to see that. As many of you know, Andre is my favorite non-Yankee player. It will be Heaven for me to watch Andre and his Dodgers play my Yanks….

#4) Melky baby…

If I can just see Melky a little this year, that would be great. Watching baseball and not seeing Melky is too painful. In 2010, I want to see my Leche, even if that means watching Braves games.

#3) Javier!!!

I know I will see a whole lot of Javy this season. But I want to see him be very successful. So successful, that they sign him to a nice, long contract so I don’t have to worry about losing him again. I thought Javier was good in ’04 for the Yanks, except for that whole meltdown thing…but let’s not go there! If CC, A.J., and Andy can do what they did last year again, and if you incorporate into that rotation a dominant Javier Vazquez, the rotation will be pretty darn beast.

#2) Matt Holliday as a Yankee!!!

Ow-ow! He is smokin’!!! In case you didn’t know, I am obsessed with Matt Holliday. He’s so gorgeous, and that’s a fact. And as of right now, this beautiful human being is still a free agent! The Yankees need a left fielder. I WANT HIM! Sure, he is expensive. BUT THE YANKEES CAN AFFORD HIM! Holliday would be a perfect fit for the Yankees. Imagine having him him the lineup. IMAGINE HIM IN A YANKEE UNIFORM!!! Oh my God. I’d pass out. But it’s worth it. God, Brian Cashman, whoever will listen to me, please bring me Matt Holliday. PLEASE.

#1) #28.

This one is self-explanatory. 🙂

Here’s to the new year, 2010. I hope gives us all joy, cherished memories, and a great season for the team we love.

GO YANKEES!!! I can’t wait to see you boys again!

My 2K9 Team-Full Of Cuties!

Before I begin, let me just say this: If any of my Haldane teachers came to check out my blog and this is what was posted, please don’t judge me. You might want to scroll down to the post about the 3-2 win over the Angels.

Okay. I got Major League Baseball 2K9 for my birthday for PC, and I made a team. I did a draft as the Yankees and made sure I picked cuties. I think almost all of the cuties on this team were mentioned in the division cutie posts.

Here is the starting lineup for my 2K9 team:

1) Ichiro, RF

Ichiro leads the league in steals in my game.

2) Jacoby Ellsbury, CF

The only Red Sox player I like. And I really like him 🙂

3) Mark Teixeira, 1B

Look at his smile! Priceless! Tex is adorable! He leads the league in homers and RBI’s in my game.

4) Andre Ethier (♥) DH, RF

Oh, Andre….everyone knows I love Andre. That’s why I made sure he was the first player I got!

5) Ian Kinsler, 2B

Ian was having a fantastic season, before that stolen base….

6) Eric Chavez, 3B

Quietly hitting very well for my 2K9 Yanks.

7) David DeJesus, LF

Every time he is up, I try and hit the ball to the opposite field for a single. He leads my team in batting average, so I keep doing that!

8) Jerry Hairston, SS

Solid all around, when I need a hit, Jerry gets it.

9) Francisco Cervelli (♥♥♥), C

Of course Cervelli is my starting catcher. I screamed when I found out he was in the game!

Pretty cute team, huh? There was one horrible thing that happened involving Ian Kinsler. I tried to steal a base as him, and I went into second sliding. I was happy I was safe, but my happiness was cut short. Ian got hurt, something with his finger. I put in one of my benchies to play for Ian, and I finished the game. I won! But after the game, I got the news about Ian. He tore his finger ligament and was going to miss at least 60 games. I was so mad. I was planning on exiting the game, without saving the game I just did, but it autosaved! Ian Kinsler was injured, and there was nothing I could do about it. So I got a replacement.

Freddy Sanchez! He is filling in nicely so far. When Kinsler comes back, I will have to decide what to do with Freddy. But I have time to think about that.

I’ll show you my pitchers after the next off-day. The season is winding down….it’s getting sad. Yankees all the way this year!

I hope you enjoyed this cutie post.

Virginia’s Top 5 Favorite Non-Yankee Cuties!!!

Ahh…it’s that time again. When the Yankees are off, my mind shifts gears. I think about how cute baseball players are. There are so many adorable ones. I love all 25 of my Yankees, evem the ones that are not physically attractive. But there are plenty of non-Yankees who woo me just the same. I’m going to narrow it down to 5. Let’s countdown, starting with the 5th cutest and ending with the most cute non-Yankee.

#5

Gio Gonzalez of the Oakland Athletics

Gio Gonzalez Picture

Everyone knows that I just love rookies. But hot rookies are even better. That is why I like Gio Gonzalez. I saw him pitch against the Yankees once. He had an ERA of about 8, but he pitched a fabulous game against my Yanks, making them look foolish and lost at the plate. So a rookie who is hot AND a good pitcher? Now you see why he is up here.

#4

Ian Kinsler of the Texas Rangers

Ian is a hottie if I ever saw one. He also plays the game well. There were periods of time where Robinson Cano got on my nerves, and I wished that Ian Kinsler was the 2nd baseman for the Yankees. He is a hard-nosed ballplayer that any team would like to have. And he is adorable. Nice, clean cut handsome man. I love him.

#3

Grady Sizemore of the Cleveland Indians

This guy is gorgeous. If you are a female who watches baseball, you must have a thing for Grady. You would have problems if you didn’t. Don’t be shy, just let it out! Everyone knows he is hot. I am a Grady Lady at heart. I also love the way Grady plays the game. He is a fabulous centerfielder who always makes unfathomable plays in the outfield. He is just amazing. He has all the tools to be a superstar, and a superstar he is. Grady is awesome!

#2

Brian Roberts of the Baltimore Orioles

B-rob is an extreme cutie!!! He is down right adorable. I think his size makes him cuter. Brian is short, only about 5’9″. The fact that he is a little guy who is so good at baseball is so cute. I love the speed Brian brings into the game. His customary “dance” off the bases as he takes his lead is hilariously cute. He is a base-stealing wizard. His speed also helps him man the 2nd base spot, where he is pretty smooth with the glove. I love Brian Roberts.

#1

Andre Ethier of the Los Angeles Dodgers

Andre. Andre Ethier. I bet this was a surprise, hahaha. I absolutely adore Andre. You all know about how my fellow blogger Cat got Andre to sign a shirt for me, which I treasure. But why did I want an Andre shirt in the first place? What made me, a Yankee fan till the end, like this little Dodger so much? Hm. I saw him once on MLB Network, and immediately fell in love with him. Then when I started my blog, I bumped into Cat. I loved her page because of all her photos. I saw Andre photos everyday. I saw his pregame rituals, he and his teammates, and his quirky habits in the outfield. I felt like I knew Andre, which made me love him more. I realized that he is more than a handsome face: he is a wonderful man. Andre is an extremely talented ballplayer, a man whose charm is captivating, and an even better person. That is why I love Andre Ethier. He won this #1 spot without a doubt. I hope for Andre to wear Yankee pinstripes one day, but then I feel bad about taking him away from Cat and the other Dodger fans who love him. It’s alright, though. I don’t mind admiring him from a distance.

I hope you all enjoyed this special cutie post. 🙂

The Cuties And Hotties Of Baseball – NL West

This is it! The last cutie post and by far the most anticipated!!! The NL West is filled with heartthrobs. Being a Yankee fan, I don’t really get to see too many of these guys play. But thanks to my fellow NL West bloggers, I get a glimpse of them every once in awhile. Let’s begin with the Dodgers.

That wraps up the cuties and hotties. Let’s see….who is my favorite on this list….hmm…

Duh! Andre is my fav!!!

Yanks Take Two!!!

Yanks Win Both Games. And I Am Filled With Smiles!!!

Ahhh…We won both games. How comforting. We pitched well, we actually caught the ball, and the offense was great. And somebody sent me something which I am wearing right now. I thank that somebody 🙂 The Yankees won the first game 4-1 and the second game 11-1.

Pitching Analysis: CC pitched game 1, and he was awesome and worth the money as always. He pitched 7 innings of 1-run ball, that one coming off the bat of Evan Longoria and his solo homer. He got into a few jams, but he made it out via the strikeout. It was a great game for CC. Hughes pitched the 8th, and Mo pitched the 9th.

CC Sabathia continues his dominant run despite a no-decision in the Yankees' win over the Rays on Monday afternoon.

CC is a beast.

Game 2 was A.J.’s turn. I was wondering which A.J. would show up. The stinky I-can’t-locate-my-fastball A.J., or the A.J. with the great fastball and the nasty curve. Well, in the 1st inning, A.J. allowed a run. Darn. The stinky A.J. was pitching. But wait! He turned things around and did not allow a run for the rest of the game! Hooray! A.J. is back! This could be the perfect time for him to heat up….going down the final stretch…gett’n ready for the POSTSEASON!!! Perfect timing, A.J.

AJ Burnett is confident and commanding in the Yankees' 11-1 pounding of the Rays in Monday's nightcap.

Oh, yeah….

Edwar Ramirez pitched next, followed by a Jonathan Albaladejo with weird eyes (poor thing!) and the nervous kid Michael Dunn finished out the game. The pitching was fabulous, as usual.

Defensive Analysis: Unlike the other day, the Yankees actually caught the ball! Wow! I gues everyone just had their bad day on the same day. But in both games yesterday, the defense was great. Brett Gardner made himself right at home in centerfield in game 1….even though that catch was in right field. In the 4th inning of game 1, Brett ran all the way into deep right field, and made a dive/slide to rob the Ray of a double. It was the right fielder’s ball, but I was glad to see Gardy make the play. Way to go Brettiboo!!!

Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner celebrates his return from the disabled list by making a running, tumbling catch on a Fernando Perez drive in the fifth inning.

I missed you, Brett!!!

Offensive Analysis: In game 1, the offense looked a bit sluggish. Arod had a great day at the plate, but before the 8th, no one else was hitting well. But the 8th is where is all changed. Swish led off with a walk, and thanks to Tex it was 2nd and 3rd none out. Arod was intentionally walked, Cano got a sac fly, Jorge singled, and Hinske got a sac fly. It was 4-1, and the Yankees won it by that score.

In game 2, the offense exploded again. The Yankees had an 8 run 3rd inning. They tacked on more later. Everyone was hitting, accept the guy we all wanted to hit. Jeet was hitless for both games. Poor guy. He is stressing a bit, it is obvious. Don’t panic, Jeet! We LOVE you!!! Mark Teixeira had 2 homers, Melky had 3 hits, the lineup was on fire!

I saw my Cervelli baby again. I was a bit angry at Girardi for not letting Cervelli start one of the games, but whatever. At least I saw him…sooo cute….yeah…

It was a great day for the Yanks. 2 wins in 1 day is pretty darn good. The heroes for game 1 are CC, the bullpen, and Arod. For game 2, the heroes are A.J., Tex, and Melky. It was another fun day to be a Yankee fan. And because of these wins, and the Red Sox loss, the Yankees now have an EXTREMELY COZY 9 GAME LEAD!!!!! WAHOOO!!!! The Smelly Sox are running out of time. That is awesome. I smell something….a championship, maybe? I’ve been waiting for awhile…I hope this is the year. GO YANKEES!!!!!!

Oh, and I would just like to thank my friend Cat for this lovely shirt. An Andre Ethier shirt, signed by Andre himself. I was SO hyper during school today. I could not wait to get the mail!!! Thank you SO much, Cat. You made me smile, and I know I will smile and think of you every time I wear this shirt!!! Tell Andre I love him, too!!!
