That Concludes Sox Week
This past week, the Yankees played a 4-game series against the White Sox followed by a 3-game set against the Red Sox. It was a long week on the road, and I’m just happy my boys are coming back to the Bronx.
The Yankees swept the 4 games in Chicago. I almost hate to say it, but during those games, I really felt bad for the White Sox. They looked miserable, lost, and just didn’t play good baseball. Oh well…those are the kinds of games the Yankees have to win, and they did.
The Yankees went into the Red Sox series tied for first place…it was as if August 5th was Opening Day again. It was such a refreshing feeling. That series started out nicely, but didn’t end the way I’d hoped for.
The first game of that series was intense…Colon vs. Lester. The Yanks had to play catch-up after quickly falling behind 2-0. In the 5th, Eduardo Nunez led off with a walk, Derek Jeter singled, and Granderson drove in a run with a single to cut the deficit in half. After Mark Teixeira’s walk, Cano grounded into a double play, which tied the game at 2. With 2 out, I wasn’t sure if the Yankees would be able to go ahead, but Nick Swisher delivered with a double down the third base line, and the Yankees had a 3-2 lead.
It became a battle of the bullpens after that, and the Yankee bullpen proved victorious. Boone Logan especially – he looked like the Logan of 2009 again. Cory Wade, Rafael Soriano, David Robertson, and Mariano Rivera nailed it down for the Yanks.
I was ecstatic that the Yankees had sole possession of first place. I figured they maybe had the confidence they needed to keep on winning – they beat Jon Lester in Fenway Park, which is no easy task. I did a little boasting and bragging on facebook after Game 1, not really caring what I was saying. I was experiencing some leftover euphoria hours after the game’s ending.
So maybe I look stupid, but I don’t really care. The Yankees lost the next two games and are now a game behind the Red Sox. Of course the games the lost were on FOX and ESPN, places where the announcers fawn over the Red Sox as much as Chris Matthews fawns over Obama. “Oh, Adrian Gonzalez, Dustin Pedroia, Jacoby Ellsbury, the top 3 guys for the AL MVP…oh, they’re sooo good…better than anyone the Yankees have…OHH MY LEG!”
Ermm okay.
Joe Buck and Tim McCarver made me not want to watch the Saturday game. I missed most of it anyways because I was out, and I’m glad I did. CC didn’t pitch well and I’m sure they kept on mentioning how he hasn’t been the same pitcher against the Red Sox and how he sucks, and maybe how he’s not worth the jumbo contract because he can’t beat the Sox, blah blah blah…
So on to the finale, and the two teams were tied for first once again.
The pitching matchup of Freddy Garcia and Josh Beckett initially had me a little nervous. I was aware of their numbers.
Freddy Garcia really battled last night for my Yanks. He’s such a pitcher. Over 5 innings, Garcia allowed just 1 run (and it was a cheapie, he had some baaaad breaks in the 2nd inning when that run was allowed) and 5 hits, but threw 96 pitches. Beckett was throwing well, and I wasn’t sure if the Yanks would be able to get to him.
Two rather-unexpected heroes emerged for the Yanks last night. Eduardo Nunez and his quick stroke of the bad hammered a high fastball into the seats above the monster to tie the game at 1. My Grandma couldn’t believe it, “Ohhh, the young guy did it! And I wanted A-Rod to come back, Virginia…”
The second guy, I don’t know why, but something told me he’d do it. When Brett Gardner came to the plate in the 7th and his stats appeared on the screen, I thought, “Ahh, he’s having a nice year just like I expected…4 homers? When was the last time he hit one…due perhaps?”
Oh yeah.
Gardner did homer, and the Yankees had their first lead of the night. 2-1. It was such a long, slooowww paced game, me and my Grandma wanted to go to bed, but we wanted to watch.
The Yankee bullpen did its job and handed the ball to Mariano. Again, something just told me he wasn’t going to do it…I had a bad feeling. When I saw who the first guy up was – Marco Scutaro – I just knew. He was already 3-3 on the night, and I remember a few years back when he was with the A’s, he hit a walkoff homer off Mo. So when he led off the inning with a double, I can’t say I didn’t see that coming. Mo eventually blew the save, and right there I knew the momentum had permanently shifted for the game. The Red Sox have a “knack” for winning at home…let’s just say I’m not the only one who thinks they steal signs, but whatever.
When I saw PHIL HUGHES was coming in for the Yankees to pitch the next inning, I called it a night. I knew what he was going to do…so I just went to bed and accepted it before it even happened.
I know from an outsider’s perspective, it looks like the same old thing: The Red Sox are owning the Yankees. But I just don’t see that. All three games were well-played. And last night’s loss was tough. I truly believe that if that game was played in Yankee Stadium, the Yankees wouldn’t have lost. The Yankees are still better position-by-position, they have way better pitching, they just had a bad break. It’s Fenway. That happens there.
Maybe it’s better for the Yanks to say out of first for now. They’ve played well all year being the underdogs. But I’m confident that next time these teams meet, things will be different.

Nowhere Near Hot Enough
Burnett Stinks Again in Yankee Loss
No doubt, last night was extremely frustrating. The Diamondbacks are one of the worst teams in basball, so of course a loss to them is annoying. I adjusted my entire schedule so I would be able to see the whole game: I slept until noon so I could stay up late without an issue – and then I didn’t even want to. The most aggravating thing about the loss was A.J. Burnett. My lord, something must be done with that man. The Yankee lost 10-4, and I knew right away it was going to be a bad night.
Pitching Analysis: I tried to wipe the slate clean and give Burnett a chance last night. He got the first two outs quickly. Then Justin Upton hit a solo home run. Okay, I thought. 1 run isn’t the end of the world, especially since the D-Backs have Rodrigo Lopez on the mound. We can catch up.
I was wrong 😦
After hits my Montero and Young, I was beginning to worry. But still, I thought A.J. would get out of it. Nope. Adam Laroche hit a monster 3-run home run. That’s what I get for being optimistic. But no, A.J. was not done yet. Mark Reynolds’s home run drained the last of my good mood out of me. After 1, the Diamondbacks led 5-0. I was ready to put this one in the “L” column.
Burnett allowed another run in the 3rd, and would have allowed more if not for a gorgeous diving play by Curtis Granderson. After that, I changed the channel whenever I saw A.J.
Yeah it’s hot in Arizona. But I’m not sure how hot you are anymore, A.J.
He finished the night having thrown 4 innings, and allowing 7 runs on 9 hits. His ERA is climbing, and is now at 4.83. A.J. hasn’t won in his last 5 starts. And when he’s on the mound stinking it up, he doesn’t even look like he cares.
Chad Gaudin pitched a scoreless 2 innings. I didn’t really watch him, but I’ll give him credit for pitching well. Once I saw Chan Ho Park, I didn’t even bother watching the rest of the game. I switched over to AMC to give my full attention to the movie I was watching when the Yankees were pitching. I didn’t get to see Park surrender the 3-run homer to Upton, making it 10-3. I was too busy watching Dirty Dancing. It was hot in Arizona last night, but I just wasn’t feeling it. I decided to turn up the heat by watching Patrick Swayze dance. Ow-ow. That made me feel a little better…
Mmmm…I love this movie. It’s so sexy.
Offensive Analysis: Of course, Rodrigo Lopez had to pitch the game of his life last night. The Yankee offense struggled. The first thing I had to cheer about was when Nick Swisher’s triple brought home Brett Gardner.
Oh, Nick…you are always hot 😉
To be honest, I didn’t see any other offense. They scored 3 more runs, but I didn’t bother to watch. But it wasn’t like the bats were hot anyway. The runs came on sac flies and stuff. Yeah that’s not good enough.
Despite the miserable outcome of the game, the Yankees are still in first place – a half a game ahead of the Rays, who are now tied with the Red Sox who cheat at Fenway. It’s getting awfully tight in the AL East. Hopefully, the Yanks can quickly forget this loss, and move on. There is no room for losing streaks. We’ve got to be positive!
Look at it this way: Burnett won’t pitch for another 5 days!

A Grand Finale
Yanks Win Series In “Grand” Fashion
Last night’s Yankee game was AWESOME! It had everything a Yankees/Red Sox game should have: a little good pitching, a little clutch hitting, and a LOT of drama. The Yankees won again, and believe it or not, actually won the first series against Boston this year! And at Fenway? Who would have thought…My boys can do the impossible 🙂 The Yankees won last night 3-1, and it was surely an exciting game.
Pitching Analysis: Andy Pettitte, who really had no Spring Training at all, started for the Yankees last night. But the fact that he didn’t get much practice didn’t bother me. I knew Andy would be fine. He always finds a way to pitch well, even if he doesn’t have his best stuff. But last night, at least from what I could tell, Andy was on. He went 6 innings, allowing just 1 run. That 1 run was an RBI single by Big Poopi in the 3rd inning. What a dandy from my Andy. ♥
Don’t take this the wrong way, but one of the highlights of my night took place in the 5th inning. Andy Pettitte clonked Kevin Youkilis in the head! I laughed…I know some of you may think that’s rotten, but I did. I just hate Pukilis so much. No one likes him. I mean what’s to like? And it’s not like Andy meant to hurt him. Youkilis was fine, he wasn’t hurt. So I don’t really feel bad about laughing and saying “Yeah! Go Andy!”
When Joe Girardi put in Chan Ho Park in the 7th inning, I almost fell off my chair. But when he trotted out there for a second inning of relief, I was in even more disbelief. Girardi didn’t stop there…he didn’t stop torturing me. Yes, Park came out for a THIRD INNING OF WORK. I let my mind convince me otherwise at the time, but after the game I realized the truth: Chan Ho Park did a helluva great job. 3 innings of 1-hit, 0-run relief against the smelly sox who cheat at Fenway? (The insults are on now…I didn’t like the way they played last night.) I am proud of Chan Ho. I didn’t know he was suffering from the flu! Maybe that’s why he stank the other night. Now I feel bad about giving him a hard time..aw….Chan Ho I’m sorry! I’m just an inconsiderate little brat. Don’t feel bad. I do love you now…I’m so sorry it took this long.
After Park’s brilliant outing, the Sandman took over. The Yanks had a lead by this time, so the 10th inning was an easy one for Mo, who nailed down his 2nd save of the year!!! Overall, it was a spectacular night on the mound for all my Yankee hurlers.
Defensive Analysis: Not much went on defensively last night. The Yankees didn’t make any errors and were solid overall. In the first inning, Ellsburry pummeled poor Andy as he ran to first. Andy fell on the cold, hard ground, and Jacoby was safe. The Yankees had to defend their bodies later on. After Youkilis was hit in the 5th, Lackey hit Jeet in the elbow, then the ump called a warning, and the drama stopped there. I was hoping maybe when Andy was ready to come out of the game, he could just hit a Red Sock and get thrown out, since he would have been ready to exit anyway. But that didn’t happen…Andy is just too sweet of a guy.
Offensive Analysis: It took the Yankees a long time to get on the board, and as each inning passed without a Yankee crossing the plate, I grew more and more tense. I was like, “Are they seriously going to lose 1-0?”
But then I remembered: These are the Yankees, they don’t lose like that. They never stop fighting. I knew that eventually, they would figure it out, and score.
They figured it out in the 7th inning, when Lackey was out of the game. Off of Daniel Bard, the young guy who thinks he is all-that because he can throw 99 mph, Jorge Posada doubled. Due up next was Nick Swisher, who just keeps on getting sexier everyday. He looks even hotter when he hits well. Last night, he had me drooling. He came through inthe clutch! Nick hit a single into right field that scored Jorge, and tied the game at 1. I was relieved that they finally scored!
The Yankee bats were held quiet until the game went into extra innings. In the 10th, the Red Sox went with Jonathan Papelbon. I hate that man with a passion. He thinks he’s so intimidating on the mound, when really he’s not. That stare he does? I mean, if I was at the plate and I saw him do that, I would strikeout because I’d be on the floor laughing so hard because he looked so stupid, and I wouldn’t be able to focus. Maybe that’s why he does it. No…he really does think he looks scary. I don’t know what the Yankees think, but in my opinion, Papelbon looks like he wants to masturbate when he does that face.
Okay sorry. That’s enough ranting about Papelbon for one day. Anyway, Curtis Granderson came up, and he looked ready to make an impact. He impacted the ball, that’s for sure. Yesm Curtis Granderson hit a HOME RUN OFF PAPELBON!!! And gave Yankees had a 2-1 lead! I was beyond proud of the little cutie. The Yanks tacked on another one for insurance when Mark Teixeira drove in a run with an RBI groundout to make it 3-1.
Ooooh Curtis……♥♥♥ my love for you has started to flourish….
So there you have it! The first series of the year is over, and my Yankees came out on top. The heroes for this delightful victory are Andy Pettitte, for his dandiness, Chan Ho Park!, for his surprising dominance, and CUTIE Curtis Granderson ♥, for his clutchness. Seriously, no joke, I am now madly in love with that guy. I mean when the Yankees got him, I thought he was cute and all…but now, now I am infatuated with the man….mmm. It happened so suddenly….after last night, he looks even more adorable than he already was! And he’s so articulate…what a package: he’s got the looks, the smarts, AND the skillz! And he’s going to be on the team for a nice, long time. Yay….♥
I better stop gushing…this could start to get a little out of hand if I let it go on hehehee 😉
GREAT job Yankees, you all make me proud. Especially you Curtis 😉 You made last night a Grand finale for the team, and Grand-opened my heart.
Our First “W!”
Yanks Even Series!
I knew I didn’t have to worry. Well, actually, during last night’s game I was worrying quite a bit. Yankees/Red Sox games just do that to me. But last night, by the time it was all over, I felt at peace once again. The positives of Sunday night were present again, ad the negatives turned themselves around. And seeing a certain someone pitch like way back in the days when that certain someone was good, that gave me the utmost sense of relief. My Yankees beat the Red Sox last night 6-4, and picked up their first of many “W’s” of the season.
Offensive Analysis: It was yet another strong offensive night for my boys last night. I was very proud, not only that they scored a lot, but they did so off such a tough opponent in Jon Lester, who surrendered 4 of the Yankees’ 6 runs. It’s comforting to know that no matter who the enemy puts on the hill, my Yankees never back down.
The Yankees got on the board in the 2nd inning, when Cano singled, Jorge walked, and the Swishalicious Nick Swisher drove in a run with his RBI double. I think this new hitting approach is going to really improve the already-solid Nick Swisher. That tied up the game at 1-1.
The Yankees kept fighting back last night, playing catch-up until the very end. The Yankees had a mini-offensive explosion in the 5th inning. Cutie-Curtis Granderson led off the inning with a single. Jeter followed that with a single of his own, which sent Granderson to 3rd base. Then Nick Johnson was hit by a pitch right in his back. I’m not sure if that was intentional or not. It may have been, because loading the bases there would create a force at every base. But there were none out, so I doubt it was intentional. With loaded bases, Mark Teixeira got an RBI groundout, bringing the score to 3-2. Trailing by 1, Alex Rodriguez came up in a clutch situation. I hoped his clutch-streak from last season would continue. A-Rod didn’t let me down: he delivered with an RBI double to tie the game at 3. Robinson Cano drove in the go-ahead run with a sac fly. 4-3 Yanks!
In the 8th, again trailing, the Yankees rallied. With the bases loaded, Mr. Plate Discipline, Nick Johnson, had a great at-bat. He walked, and forced in a run which gave the Yankees a 5-4 lead. The Yanks added a final insurance run in the 9th, when Robbie Cano hit a no-doubt home run. My Grandma was so silly in the 9th. She was begging for another run because she “is always a little unsure when Mo comes in. He is iffy.” That comment really caught me off guard. My response?
“Grandma, don’t be silly. Mariano is the greatest closer EVER! What do you mean he is ‘iffy?'”
That made her quiet.
But Grandma got her insurance run, and made it through the 9th inning just fine.
ROBBIE!!!
Defensive Analysis: There was a lot of stellar defense last night, along with some not-so-stellar defense. Derek Jeter experienced both. He made 2 breathtakingly beautiful plays: the first was in the 5th, where he made a fabulous jumping leaping play on an Ellsbury liner. He then stole my breath when in the 6th, he made a lovely stretching-reaching play to his right on an Adrian Beltre hot-shot. His error was just a little throwing error in the same inning. Luckily, it didn’t amount to anything for Boston.
Jorge Posada and Damaso Marte once again had defensive issues last night. In the 1st, Jacoby Ellsury got a cheap blooper that fell in front of Marcus Thames, (Gardner would have gotten it, but whatever) and then tried to steal 2nd. Jorge Posada flung the ball wildly into centerfield, letting Jacoby go to 3rd. Marte made a wild pickoff throw in the 8th. Actually, it wasn’t wild at all. It was lobbed to Tex as if a little girl threw it. Mark was not expecting that kind of throw, and missed it.
Pitching Analysis: A.J. Burnett started for the Yankees last night, and boy did he look good. He pitched okay, but he looked sooo goooood…..those tattoos…I don’t know what it is but I just fall for him. He was pumped up last night, which may have been why he struggled. A.J. went 5 innings, allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 7 hits, and struckout 5. He looked so good that I wasn’t even mad at him when he was stinky.
The run he allowed in the first was unearned, thanks to Jorge’s little blunder. Speaking of Jorge, I think he and A.J. cooperated pretty well last night, considering everything they went through. The big oopsy of his outing was the 2-run homer V-Mart hit off him in the 3rd inning. Martinez got to Burnett again in the 5th, when he knocked in a run with a double.
It’s cute when they aren’t arguing.
The bullpen was much better last night, thank God! Alfredo Aceves was really spectacular, continuing right from where he was last season. I guess his back really is feeling better. His 2 innings of perfect pitching amounted to him picking up his first “W” of the season.
The real star of last night was Joba Chamberlain. Oh, Joba…what a surprise! You can be dominant in relief! We never knew….jk! Joba entered the game in relief of Marte in the 8th, and inherited a very sticky situation: a man on 2nd, 1 out, and a slim 1-run lead. I prayed he would be the Joba I knew and loved way back when.
It made me almost tear up. Joba was spectacular. He struckout Beltre, then struckout Drew. Then, to my hopes and surprise, Joba fist-pumped. He hasn’t done that in so long! It was beautiful to see him having fun with it again, while also being dominant at the same time.
So beautiful….(sniffle)…HE’S BAAACK!!!
It was a fun night to be a Yankee fan. The game was very topsy-turvy, with the lead switching several times. But this time, it was my boys who came out on top. The heroes for the victory are Nick Johnson (cute!!!) for his patience at the plate, Robbie Cano for his production and that homer, and….JOBA, for his pure enthusiasm which led to success. Great job, boys. You’ve evened the series.
Tonight is the rubber game of this 3-game set. It would be very nice if my boys could win it, get a little lead over the Smelly Sox who cheat at Fenway, Oops…I insulted them again.

It’s Gonna Be Another Great Year…
Yanks Lose Opener, But I Am Still Happy
This is not sarcasm people. I really am still happy. Of course winning is more fun, but just the fact that I watched the Yankees last night has left me feeling giddy all day long. For the first time since November 4th, when I was sick with swine flu watching my Yanks win the World Series, I watched a Yankee game, took notes in my little book, and was at complete peace. And the first half of the game, that was insanely awesome! I think I may have jinxed the Yankees…about halfway through the game when we were winning like 5-1, I already had a title in mind for this post, expecting they would win. Now I can’t use it because they lost…but whatever.
Maybe it wasn’t because of me. I mean, I could have said it was because about halfway through the game, the Red Sox realized their new team that’s “all about defense” and no offense wasn’t going to cut it, so they decided to cheat at Fenway like they almost always do. But lucky for all you BoSox fans out there, I didn’t say that. Oh wait…I did. I’m sorry 😛 I’m going to try and not throw insults around yet…it’s still too early for all that jazz.
So the Red Sox beat my Yankees last night by the score of 9-7. My Yankees did a lot right, but somewhere it all fell apart. It happens…
Offensive Analysis: Well, one thing is for certain – the Yankee bats were not a concern last night. In the 2nd inning, Jorge Posada went deep off the Pesky Poll to give the Yanks a 1-0 lead, which was fun. But it got more fun! Curtis Granderson, whom I have yet to give a cute nickname, hit a solo homer to right-center field, going back-to-back with Jorge! 2-0! I was very impressed with Grandy last night.

In the 4th, the Yankee bats sounded again. Robinson Cano, now batting 5th in the lineup,(brilliant decision, Girardi! I know it’s early, but this move may be as influential as flip-flopping Jeet and Damon was last season!) crushed a leadoff double off the Monster. He came around to score on an RBI single by Brettiboo Gardner, bringing the score to 3-1. An RBI single by Jeter made it 4-1.
But here is the coolest part: With Nick Johnson (also lacking a nickname) up, Gardy on 3rd and Jeet on 1st, awesomeness happened! Jeter broke for 2nd base, and Victor Martinez stupidly threw the ball over there. Speedy little Brett Gardner then stole home! 5-1 Yanks! HAHAA!!! So Jacoby, you shouldn’t feel too special or unique from when you did that off Andy Pettitte. You are not the only one with wheels. That double steal was the highlight of my night 🙂

The Yankees scored again twice in the 7th on an RBI groundout by Cano and an RBI single by Jorge to retake the lead they lost, bringing the score to 7-5. I was very pleased with the offense last night. The bats were not the reason why we lost.
Defensive Analysis: Defense was….partly why we lost. At the beginning of the game, my Yankees were flashing their leather left and right. Curtis Granderson made a lovely leaping catch at the wall in centerfield in the 2nd inning. In the 3rd, A-Rod made a heads-up play. After a leadoff walk by Mike Cameron, Marco Scutaro hit a bullet line-drive to Alex, who caught it on the fly. With that sexy cannon arm, A-Rod fired to Tex, and doubled-up Cameron at first for the 5-3 double play. Texy-wexy also made a gorgeous play of his own in the 4th on a Dustin Pedroia sharp grounder.
Granderson can fly!
The icky defense came in the 7th inning. After the lead was blown, Marte entered the game, and flung a wild pitch on the first one he threw. Later in the same inning, he threw a pitch that wasn’t exactly on-target, but it was still in the strike zone. For some odd reason, Jorge missed the ball! And it rolled away…and Pukilis I mean Youkilis (Virginia…you said you would refrain from insults…try and be civil…there are still at least 161 games left!) came in to score the go-ahead run.
Pitching Analysis: CC Sabathia, my adorable-hefty-lefty-ace-cute-“chubby”-pitcher took the hill last night. His first pitch was a strike – a nice fastball on the outer half to Ellsbury. He was pretty good through the first 5 innings, just allowing 2 runs, but it unraveled after that for my big boy. He got into a mess in the 6th, gave up a few runs, and left the game with the tying run on 3rd. David Robertson relieved him, and let the run come in on an RBI single by Beltre.
The 7th inning made me want to pull my hair out. Chan Ho Park made his Yankee debut, and I’m sorry but he epically failed. At that time, the Yankees had recaptured the lead, and the score was 7-5. Quickly, this was all erased. Scutaro singled, and then Park dished up the go-ahead 2-run homer to Pedroia. Chan Ho-couldn’t-keep-it-in-the-Park was starting to piss me off.
-Excuse me, Virginia. If you are not going insulting the Red Sox tonight, what gives you the right to insult a Yankee…a nervous Yankee, on his debut? Very heartless of you.-
I’m sorry, conscience.
Then Park gave up a double to Puke-I mean-Youkilis. Then he left, and Marte came in, only to do his wild-pitch thing. THEN it was Joba’s turn. He got out of the 7th, but gave up a run in the 8th. By that time, it was too late for my babies on the offense side to come back.
CC wasn’t great last night, but the bullpen was a complete fail. Sorry guys!
So we lost…okay. It’s happened before, it’s not the end of the world. After all, the Yankees lost the first game last season and went ALL THE WAY! Remember: they are the Drama Club. They like to make things interesting. I like a little drama in my life…it can be exciting. The Yankees have a knack for creating drama in my life.
They also have a knack for sending me into cardiac arrest.
Guys, I like it drama, but I also like breathing. Just remember that 🙂
Yankees, you are all so sexy and watching you last night made me happy all over. I love you, boys. I hope you have enjoyed your off-day.

From the beginning I had a feeling the Yankees were going to win last night. It was kind of a “Drama Club” win; any win versus the Red Sox is dramatic. It was a good game. Joba was solid, and the offense exploded. The Yankees beat the Smelly Sox 9-5.
Pitching Analysis: Joba Chamberlain really stepped up last night. He pitched a nice ballgame. Joba was perfect through 3 & 2/3 innings. In total, he went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 5 along the way. It was a quality start for Joba. I think he was very sharp yesterday. He listened to Jane’s advice and didn’t walk around the mound for five hours. He threw the ball, got the ball, and was ready to throw again. He looked mean, intimidating, and dominant as he stared in at the Red Sox hitters. It was a Joba well done!
Nice job, Joba!
Aceves, Albaladejo, Marte, Hughes, and Coke finished out the game. Albaladejo gave up 2 runs in 1/3 of an inning, but the rest of the ‘pen was great.
Defensive Analysis: The defense was soild as usual last night. Johnny Damon made an error, but whatever. I love Johnny. He should definitely come back next year. Nick Swisher made a Nick Swisher-ish play in right field. In the 2nd inning, Swish made a funky sliding catch on an Ortiz liner. I couldn’t really tell if the slide was necessary, but you know Nick Swisher. He loves to show off. Oh, NickySwish…It was a nice play, and it led Joba to a 1-2-3, 10 pitch 2nd inning.
Offensive Analysis: The offense exploded last night. The Yanks scored 9 runs on 14 hits. I love it when they hit well. But what I really enjoyed seeing last night was the running game. The Yankees stole a season-high 7 bases last night. That is my favorite aspect of the game. Stealing bases creates potential run-scoring situations, and it forces the opposing team to make the plays. It is the most exciting part of the game, in my opinion. I wish the Yanks would do it more often. It was fun to watch. Watching the Red Sox captain Jason Varitek fail and fail again and again at throwing out runners, I love it!
In the 3rd, something awful happened. My man Melky hit a line drive right off of Jon Lester’s knee. Lester went down, and did not get up. Melky reached with an RBI infield single, but everyone’s concern was on Lester. I really felt bad. Now I despise the Red Sox, but I didn’t get any thrill in seeing Lester in pain like that. He’s just a kid, and he has battled through a lot to get where he is today. I hope he is okay and not in too much pain.
Poor Lester…I hope he is okay…why couldn’t it have hit Pukilis? Everyone hates him.
Alex Rodriguez had a huge night at the plate. He was 3-3 with 4 RBI’s, including a monster 2-run homer into the second deck in left. Nice to see him contributing so much. He has been very clutch this year. I hope he does something extremely clutch in the postseason, so all the fans will forever love him.

It was a nice win for the Yanks last night. The magic number is now 3. We are 1 step closer, boys! The heroes for the victory are Alex Rodriguez, for his offensive explosion, and Joba Chamberlain, for proving he CAN pitch well. The Yankees now have a 6.5 game lead over the Smelly Sox who cheat at Fenway. I can’t wait for the postseason! I’m thinkin’ my Yanks have a pretty fair shot at #27 this year. I pray that I am right. Yanks Win Series In Anaheim
OMG. They did it. They actually did it. I must be dreaming. For the first time since May of 2004, my Yankees won a series in hell on earth Anaheim. It’s unvelievable. Especially since we lost the first game. Winning this series is a huge confidence booster not only for me, but for the Yankees. They play the Smelly Sox tomorrow in the Bronx, and hopefully momentum is on their side. The Yankees beat the Angels in a somewhat Drama Club fashion yesterday by the score of 3-2.
Pitching Analysis: A.J. Burnett started for the Yanks yesterday, looking to put together a string of solid starts. A.J. was beyond solid yesterday. He went 5 & 2/3 innings of 2 run ball, and struckout 11! THAT is the A.J. I’ve grown to know and love! His fastball was working, and that curve was working, too, putting the hitters out of whack. Nice job, A.J.! This is the PERFECT time to get hot! No one will care about those bad starts, as long as you perform in October!

When I said the Yankees won in Drama Club fashion, I meant Drama Club pitching wise. The bullpen was absolutely fantastic yesterday. Marte, Albaladejo, Coke, Kennedy, and Mo combined for a scorless game of relief. Ian Kennedy made his comeback! I was glad to see him. What a story for this kid. I was glad to see him, but I wasn’t sure that I wanted him to pitch right then and there. He loaded the bases, and I could barely watch. I was hoping Girardi would take him out, but he didn’t. It was Ian’s jam, and Ian’s inning. Ian wound up getting out of the inning unscathed, which must have boosted his confidence quite a bit. Good for him.
Defensive Analysis: The defense was solid yesterday. Good pitching, good defense. They go hand-in-hand. Cano started a lovely 4-6-3 double play. The Yankees have the best infield in baseball.
Offensive Analysis: The Yankees only got 7 hits. But that translated to 3 runs. The bats were quiet through the first 3 innings, but they got on the board in the 4th. Robinson Cano, who we all know NOT to be clutch, game through. He had a 2-run single to give the Yanks a 2-0 lead. Yeah, Robbie! My man Melky contributed with an RBI hit of his own in the 4th. I just feel like saying this: Melky Cabrera is awesome! He is so clutch and always seems to come through for the Yanks this year! I LOVE YOU, LECHE!!! Thanks to Melky, the Yankees now had a 3-0 lead. They went on to win it 3-2.

It was another playoff-feeling game yesterday. The kind of game that gives me agida on ever pitch. From the 6th inning on when it was 3-2, every pitch meant SO much. It was such an exciting game, even though there was not much offense. Good pitching is just as fun to watch. That brings us to our heroes for the victory: they are A.J. Burnett, for another dominating start, the Yankee bullpen, for holding the lead and letting us win, and Robbie Cano, for that clutch 2-run single. I must be dreaming. We won this series! It is amazing! Or maybe, maybe the Yankees are just good. No. YES!!! Despite that little slump, we are still the best team in baseball.
The Smelly Sox who cheat at fenway are coming to the Bronx today. Since today is an off-day, that means I won’t have a game to blog about tomorrow. Hmm…I could to another cutie post, possibly. Sounds good. I don’t know what it will be, but I’m going to try and do another cutie post for all you cutie-lovers out there. Tomorrow is the pep rally at my school. GO JUNIORS!!! CLASS OF 2011!!! Despite My Worries, Yankees Are Definitely In!!!
I was on the verge of a heart attack when I wrote my last entry. But today, my heart is in much better condition and I am full of smiles. My Yankees clinched a postseason spot last night. The Rangers lost, and the Yankees beat the Angels 6-5. I am so proud 🙂
Pitching Analysis: Chad Gaudin started toed the rubber for the Yanks last night. He did a nice job (remember, he is Chad Gaudin). He went 4 & 2/3 innings of 2-run ball. Not his best start, but the Yankees wound up winning the game. Surprisingly, the Yankees have won all of Gaudin’s starts.
Alfredo Aceves relieved Gaudin, and he allowed 2 runs. Marte gave up 1 hit and then was pulled and replaced by Phil Hughes. Hughes allowed a run, but he picked up the win. As always, (except for that Ichiro incident) Mo nailed it down for his 41st save of the year. The pitching was good enough for the win last night. If the Yanks can manage a win when their 5th starter is pitching, they have to feel pretty good.
Defensive Analysis: The Yankees made 2 errors last night, one by Cano and one by Posada. But Alex Rodriguez made a sparkling play with the bases loaded. A sharp grounder was hit to his right, and he dove, gloved it, and fired a strike to Tex for the out, and the end of the Halo’s threat.
Offensive Analysis: The Yankee offense was not dead last night. They managed 6 runs on 10 hits. They had a big 3rd inning, thanks to a pair of 2-run homers by Arod and Posada. Matsui had a solo homer of his own in the 5th. The Yankee bats were silent for awhile, and the Angels fought their way back and tied the game at 5. I was thinking that the Yankee offense had died, and that they would not come back. But I forgot something: they are The Drama Club. They can always come back.
I would rather see Cervelli, (♥) but I enjoy seeing Jorge come through.

The Yankees were indeed The Drama Club last night, as they pushed ahead in the 9th. Alex Rodriguez drove in the go-ahead run with a sac fly. The Yankees went on to win it 6-5.
-DEEEEEEEEEEEP breath- -sigh of relief- Well, they did it. My boys did it. They clinched. I was so worried that this team was collapsing. I guess I was being a little ridiculous. I mean, they are only human. They have to slump eventually. Last night’s win was a big one, not just because they clinched, but because they played hard. That game felt like a postseason game, and the Yankees came out on top. Maybe it is a sign of things to come….hm….I sure hope so. I really, really, REALLY want the Yankees to go all the way this year. I don’t want to have to ponder about that little thing I did when I was 8 that I think cursed my Yankees. I’m watching the Yankee game right now. They are leading 3-1. My man Melky, who has been slumping, just got a hit. Just thought I’d say that 🙂 I am getting very excited, and a little sad. Only 9 games left? I am going to be so lonely when the season is over. I’m going to miss my men 😦 They just have to win the World Series so the offseason is shorter and so I can see them longer. Yankees Lose Again! AAAHHH!!!!
……-deep breath-…..-sigh-…..I’m beginning to panic…..I know we have a lead, but I am still beginning to panic….it doesn’t look good right now….my Yanks are 4-6 in their last 10 games…our offense has been dead…..our bullpen has been bad….aaahhhh!…..what’s happening to my Yankees?!?!…..slumping?….NOW?…..get it together, boys….get it together,….for the sake of my well-being…..just get it together…The Yankees lost….to the Angels last night…5-2…..and I am freaking out….I need to pull myself together….I’m gonna make this short because….if I think about it for too long….I don’t know what will happen to me….
Pitching Analysis: Andy…Pettitte…okay enough with the dots for now. Andy started last night after missing a start due to shoulder fatigue. He gave up 2 runs in the first, and I then gave up on the game. But Andy did fairly well last night. He went 6 innings of 3-run ball. That’s a quality start. But the Yankees didn’t take advantage of it. The bullpen did not do the job last night. Bruney and Albaladejo gave up a run in each of their inning of work. Not too good, boys.

Offensive Analysis: Where are the Bronx Bombers? Where is the Drama Club? Where is the offensive explosion I have grown accustomed to? The Yankees only managed 2 runs last night, solo homers by Arod and Matsui. The Yankees only had 3 situations with runners in scoring position, and they were 0-3. First of all, when you know you aren’t hitting, you HAVE to get the big hit with runners in scoring position. If you can’t seem to get on base, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!! Try to bunt! Or just lean in and let it clip the elbow! Make it happen! It’s frustrating to watch when the offense is dead and no one does anything about it. I’m sure they were trying, but seriously. They need to play like it is the postseason. Play hard, play like it is the last game ever. Win, win WIN!!!!

Do I have the right to panic? I know we have a 5 game lead over the smelly sox who cheat at Fenway, but I am still worried. We play the Red Sox this weekend. We have to win. YANKEES! PLEASE! STOP SLUMPING! THIS IS NOT HEALTHY FOR ME! I DON’T NEED STRESS LIKE THIS!!! Please win for me, I don’t want to die. I am too young for death. My heart is going to crumble if this continues. The Bombers Bombed Again!

Last night’s game was a nice bounce-back win. On Friday, the only offense for the Yanks came from 2 sac flies, 1 by Arod and 1 by Tex in that 3-2 loss. But last night was different. The Yankees went on another offensive explosion as they beat the Mariners 10-1.
Pitching Analysis: C “Cy” Sabathia was superb again last night. He went 7 innings of 1-run ball, and he struck out 8. CC now has 18 wins. I believe he deserves the Cy Young award. He has went above and beyond my expectations for him. Every week, he goes out there and throws 7 or 8 beyond quality innings. Even when he doesn’t have his best stuff, CC takes the ball and still manages to go deep into the game, allowing minimal damage. And his presence in the clubhouse makes a world of difference to this club. CC is as great a guy as he is a pitcher. I really think he should win the Cy Young, but that’s just me.
CC was excellent. A liner hit him right below the Adam’s Apple, but he toughed it out. CC rocks!
Brian Bruney, who changed his number from 38 to 99, pitched a scoreless 8th. Jonathan Albaladejo pitched a scoreless 9th. His eyes are looking a bit better. The pitching was fabulous last night. It was fabulous on Friday, but A.J. did not get a win because of that blown save incident. But at least he is coming around. If CC and A.J. can be sharp going into October, I believe the Yanks have a great shot at going all the way. When they are on, they are the best 1-2 starters in baseball.
Defensive Analysis: The defense was solid once again. Arod made an error, but it didn’t cost anything. I remember he made a great play on a slow roller, which he barehanded and fired to Tex. But the runner was safe. It was still an incredible play just to make it close. My man Francisco Cervelli looked soooo cute behind the plate last night. Everything he does is cute. He showed off his arm last night, chasing Beltre back to second base. When Beltre tried to steal third, Cervelli used his cannon arm and fired a rocket strike to Arod. The ball beat Beltre there, but it got knocked out of Alex’s glove. That’s okay, Cervelli. “A” for effort, you cute thing, you!
Offensive Analysis: The Bronx Bombers bombed in Seattle last night, that’s for sure. 10 runs on 18 hits. Tex had 2 homers and 5 RBI’s. My Cervelli had a nice night at the plate; he went 2 for 4 with an RBI of his own. There was a lot of offense last night.

The Yankees played good baseball last night, and unlike Friday night, the results showed it with a “W”. The heroes for the victory are CC Sabathia for his stellar performance once again, Francisco Cervelli, just because I love him so much, and Mark Teixeira, for his 2 homers, his triple, his 5 ribis, and his cute face. The Yankees still have a 6 game lead over the Red Sox who cheat at Fenway. But those Smelly Sox were in Baltimore last night, so I guess they won fair and square. The season is winding down. It is very sad. I love baseball and I love my Yankees and I am going to miss them more that anything when the season is over. I guess they just jave to win the World Series for me, so the offseason is shorter. Hear that, boys? Go all the way this year. I want #27! GO YANKEES!!!!!!
