An Odd, Exciting, AWESOME WIN!!!
These Yankees Amaze Me
This entire postseason has been so much fun. And last night? Just another crazy “walkoff” win from the Drama Club. I was so tired when it ended. The time on my clock as I climbed into bed was 1:37 am. I was beyond exhausted. I had the PSAT, and then that game. It was insane. The Yankees beat the Angels last night/this morning 4-3.
Pitching Analysis: A.J. Burnett was dominant. His stuff was naaaaaaasty. Molina caught him again, and mixed his pitches very well. Once again, the usually-explosive Angel lineup could barely amount to anything. They scored 2 runs off A.J. Acutally, if you think about it, A.J. beat himself last night. He’s just too good! In the 5th, things got a little messy. A.J. just could not control that curveball. There were hit batsmen and wild pitches. The Angels only got 2 hits that inning, but those hits plus A.J.’s wildness added up to 2 runs, and a 2-2 game.
The bullpen did a magnificant job last night. They went over 6 innings, and allowed just 1 run. Coke, Joba, Hughes, Mo, Ace, Marte, and Robertson all pitched last night. Only Aceves gave up a run; an RBI single by Figgins in the 11th inning. The bullpen guys were the heroes last night. and A.J., too. He really pitched a great ballgame. He received a lovely ovation when he was taken out. He deserved it.

Defensive Analysis: The defense was uncharacteristically sloppy last night. Jeet made an error and Cano made 2. But unlike the Angels the night before, the Yankees were able to win despite the bad “d.” Oh, and Johnny Damon made another fine play last night in the 9th.

Offensive Anlaysis: The Yankees had a little trouble with runners in scoring postition last night; in fact they were 0-8 in those situations. But they managed to get the BIG hits when they really needed them. In the 2nd, Swish drew a 2-out walk, and Cano tripled him in, giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead. In the 3rd, Jeter hit an opposite field solo homer to give the Yanks a 2-0 lead.
In the 11th, the Yankees were trailing 3-2 , and the Angels sent out Fuentes to pitch. Arod was to lead off the inning, but there was no way I was going to expect him to be clutch again. How ignorant of me. With an 0-2 count, Alex got a high fastball, and he smashed it into the right field seats for a GAME TIEING HOME RUN!!!!! GOD do I love that man?!!!!!!

It seemed like the game would never end. The Yankees kept getting runners on, and they kept stranding them. So in the 13th when Jerry Hairston led off with a pinch-hit single, I didn’t think much of it. Gardner then bunted him over, and Cano was intentionally walked to get to my man Melky, the Yankee who has received 3 pies this year. “Stupid move,” I thought. But Melky hit a sharp grounder to second baseman Izturis’s left, and I was like, ‘Oh, no! Melky, no!” But Izturis, the same guy the stupid FOX annoncers were praising the whole game, threw to Aybar at second, and threw it wild! The ball was heading into foul territory. Jerry hustled around third, headed for home, and SAFE! JERRY SCORES! THE ANGELS DEFENSE SCREWED UP! AND THE YANKEES WIN!!!!!!!!!!

It was cute seeing Jerry get pied. Even though Melky hit the ball, Jerry deserved it. It was great. Burnett used the direct approach this time. Usually, he sneaks around behind the player as they are getting interviewed. But this time, he approached Jerry head-on. He paused and showed Jerry the pie, and then smushed it in his face. Taste good, huh Jerry?
I loved this game! The heroes are Arod, for keeping the Yankees alive, the Yankee pitchers, for also keeping the Yankees alive, and Jerry Hairston, for running hard and winning it for us. The Yankees head to California up 2 games to none, and they have to be feeling pretty good about things. I know I do. These Yankees never give up. They have that mentality. And they have that Yankee Stadium Magic, and the best fans. They are lucky to have all that. And I’m so lucky to have them. GO YANKEES! I LOVE YOU!
Another Random Loss….But It Doesn’t Matter, Right?
Yanks Lose To The Team I Now Hate
We lost again. That was our third loss in a row. But it doesn’t matter, does it? We already clinched, so we are in for sure. But are these losses ruining the momentum of the Yankees? Are they trying their best? Is it wise to rest the players so much, or will they lose their groove at the plate? I don’t know. I hope Girardi knows. The Yankees lost last night 5-3.
Pitching Analysis: Andy Pettitte started for the Yankees. He wasn’t too good, but he wasn’t too bad. They took him out early to give the relievers some work. Andy went 4 & 1/3 innings of 5 run ball (just 3 were earned). His line could have looked better if he pitched longer, but it was more important to test the relievers.

Alfredo Aceves and Chad Gaudin pitched in relief last night, and they both did an excellent job. If it wasn’t for that error, maybe the Yankees would have had a chance to win.
Defensive Analysis: In the 5th after Andy was pulled for Aceves, something stupid happened. With 1st and 2nd and 1 out, Ace had the runner picked off who was breaking for 3rd. He threw to Hinske, and the ball went off the top of Hinske’s glove, and into left field. 2 runs scored, and I was a bit annoyed. Those runs were charged to Andy, and the error was charged to Aceves. I thought it was Hinske’s error, because he did get a glove on it. Whatever. The runs scored, it doesn’t matter whose fault it was.
Offensive Analysis: The Yankees struggled at the plate once again. They scored just 3 runs on 9 hits. They out-hit the Rays, but they failed to get the big hit. I started to get mad at the Rays again. They hit Jerry Hairston twice, the first time in the kidney and the second time in the shoulder. Poor Jerry.
In the 5th, Johnny Damon got himself a much-needed RBI single, which was followed by an RBI single by Tex. In the 6th, Jerry had an RBi infield single. Other than that, the offense didn’t do anything.
What I liked seeing last night was the running game. Gardner had 2 stolen bases, Guzman had one, and Jerry tried to steal but was caught. That’s okay, though. I would rather see them get out stealing than just standing there on the base and letting the hitters make out. Stealing bases forces the other team to make the play. If they do, it is no fault on your part, they just deserve credit.
So the Yankees lost again, but I don’t think Girardi managed the game to win. He put in all the second-string guys and he pulled Andy early. Is this a problem, though? Shouldn’t he try to win so the Yankees have momentum going into the playoffs? Well, in 2000 the Yanks had a rough September and they won it all. This year, we aren’t really having a rough September. We clinched early and now we are just casually heading into the postseason. I shouldn’t be worrying. The Yankees are the best team; they will be fine. GO YANKEES!
My 2K9 Team-Full Of Cuties!
Before I begin, let me just say this: If any of my Haldane teachers came to check out my blog and this is what was posted, please don’t judge me. You might want to scroll down to the post about the 3-2 win over the Angels.
Okay. I got Major League Baseball 2K9 for my birthday for PC, and I made a team. I did a draft as the Yankees and made sure I picked cuties. I think almost all of the cuties on this team were mentioned in the division cutie posts.
Here is the starting lineup for my 2K9 team:
1) Ichiro, RF
Ichiro leads the league in steals in my game.
2) Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
The only Red Sox player I like. And I really like him 🙂
3) Mark Teixeira, 1B
Look at his smile! Priceless! Tex is adorable! He leads the league in homers and RBI’s in my game.
4) Andre Ethier (♥) DH, RF
Oh, Andre….everyone knows I love Andre. That’s why I made sure he was the first player I got!
5) Ian Kinsler, 2B
Ian was having a fantastic season, before that stolen base….
6) Eric Chavez, 3B
Quietly hitting very well for my 2K9 Yanks.
7) David DeJesus, LF
Every time he is up, I try and hit the ball to the opposite field for a single. He leads my team in batting average, so I keep doing that!
8) Jerry Hairston, SS
Solid all around, when I need a hit, Jerry gets it.
9) Francisco Cervelli (♥♥♥), C
Of course Cervelli is my starting catcher. I screamed when I found out he was in the game!
Pretty cute team, huh? There was one horrible thing that happened involving Ian Kinsler. I tried to steal a base as him, and I went into second sliding. I was happy I was safe, but my happiness was cut short. Ian got hurt, something with his finger. I put in one of my benchies to play for Ian, and I finished the game. I won! But after the game, I got the news about Ian. He tore his finger ligament and was going to miss at least 60 games. I was so mad. I was planning on exiting the game, without saving the game I just did, but it autosaved! Ian Kinsler was injured, and there was nothing I could do about it. So I got a replacement.
Freddy Sanchez! He is filling in nicely so far. When Kinsler comes back, I will have to decide what to do with Freddy. But I have time to think about that.
I’ll show you my pitchers after the next off-day. The season is winding down….it’s getting sad. Yankees all the way this year!

It Really Is Baffling
Yanks Lose And I’m Confused
I just don’t get it. It doesn’t make sense to me. How can a team as good as the Yankees lose like that? How can the pitching and the offense be so inconsistent in a game? They looked dead yesterday. And then they tried to come alive in the 9th, but it wasn’t enough. That part reminded me of last year, and I don’t want to remember last year. The Yankees lost to the Orioles 7-3 yesterday.
Pitching Analysis: A.J. Burnett toed the rubber yesterday looking to follow up on his last start, which was a good one. He disappointed me. He gave up 6 runs in the 2nd and it took him 41 pitches to get out of that inning. 41? Insane. But what I really don’t get is that for the rest of the game, he was A.J. Burnett. You would think I am happy that he settled down, but I am not. That does not cut it. That 2nd inning was dreadful. If it was in the postseason, it could have ended our season. I will not accept that. A.J.’s inconsistency is really bothering me. Where is the A.J. I love? He was so good last week, why was he bad yesterday? I have always given A.J. the benefit of the doubt, but now I am getting a little fed up. A.J. needs to perform and help the Yankees win the World Series, because we won’t settle for anything less.
Sorry, A.J., but I am losing faith in you. Please prove me wrong and do good in your next start!
Josh Towers came in to pitch the final 2 innings, and he allowed a run. He’s cool. A pitcher who wears #12. And he has high socks. That’s pretty cool.
Defensive Analysis: The defense was pretty good yesterday. In the 1st, Cano caught a liner and fired to Jeet for an inning ending 4-6 double play, which was cool. Alex Rodriguez booted a foul pop up, and was a bit frustrated to say the least. Then Wieters hit a foul pop up, and gave Arod a chance to redeem himself. Arod made a nice over the shoulder catch, and he was happy. Jeter was, too. They are always kidding each other.
Offensive Analysis: I liked what I saw in the first, but I didn’t like anything else. The Yanks jumped out to an early lead, died, and then had a valiant effort to make up the deficit in the 9th. In the 1st, the Yanks built a run. Jeter singled and stole second, Jerry bunted him over to third, and Tex drove him in with a sac fly. I liked that. I love little ball.

After the 1st, the offense really died. They had only a handful of chances to score, and they failed in all of them until the 9th. I don’t understand how the top offensive team can look so lost and dead at the plate.
In the 9th, the Yankee bats decided to wake up. Melky Cabrera had an RBI double, and Posada had an RBI single. That made it 7-3. Jeter struckout to end the game, and the Yankees lost to the Orioles again.

I know they only lost 2 in a row, but I am worried about the Yankees. They have not lost 2 in a row at home since that miserable series versus the Nationals. I just want a World Series title this year. I have waited so long, and I just love my team. I want everything to go well so I know they will win it all. Is that too much to ask for, boys? Hahaha. I love you guys, and I want you to have all the glory at the end of the baseball year. That’s all. GO YANKEES!!!

Frustrating Game For Yanks As They Lose To Jays
“Frustrating game” is the understatement of the year. It was a ridiculous game that had me screaming my lungs out at the TV. The Yankees booted every play! 4 errors and about 30 misplays? Where did my Yankees go? Who are these little leaguers that can’t catch a thing? Why did they have to suck when Mitre was pitching? It all bothered me. The Yankees lost to the Blue Jays 14-8. Ugh.
Pitching Analysis: Sergio Mitre, my love, started for the Yankees yesterday. His line looks ugly: 4 & 1/3 innings, 11 hits, 11 runs, 9 earned, 2 walks and 5 K’s. Those numbers are misleading. The Yankees made so many errors behind Sergio. But they also screwed up easy plays, forcing Mitre to get about 5 outs per inning. Now, I love Sergio Mitre with all my heart and would be his darling baby in a microsecond, but Sergio Mitre is not the world’s greatest pitcher. With him on the mound, the defense should have made every play. They were inexcusably horrible. Poor Sergio. He was so frustrated, and a pitcher knows he is not supposed to show it. But really, they were pathetic behind him. Even though he allowed 9 earned runs, I thought he pitched well. He struckout 5, he induced plenty of ground balls, although thanks to the defense they didn’t translate as outs, and the fly balls that were hit were bloopers that were not caught. I honestly think he pitched well, and I’m not just saying that because I drool over him. His sinker was sinking, his curveball was curving and throwing hitters off balance. And he did not allow a home run. If you did not watch the game and just saw Mitre’s line, you would say he was back to his old stinky self. But if you watched it, you should agree with me that he pitched pretty well yesterday.

The Yankee bullpen did not get the job done. Mark Melancon walked in about 70 runs and was just awful. Newcomer Josh Towers hit Randy Ruiz in the face which created a bloody mess. That was scary. Towers was not too good, but he did finish out the game for the Yanks.
Defensive Analysis: This is not an exaggeration: Yesterday’s game was the worst defensively played game I have ever seen in my young life. 4 errors, 700 misplays, it was disgusting. Jerry made an error, Cano made an error, Swisher lost a ball in the sun, Tex totally missed a grounder, Mitre struckout Encarnacion who reached first on the wild pitch, Hairston paused with the ball and got no one out, Melky and Damon collided, bloopers were dropping in in front of everyone, it was gross. Poor Sergio. My poor baby. They were forcing him to throw more pitches, and I am still worried about his little arm, and forced him to get more outs. It was dreadful. Girardi better have some kind of meeting. I hope this is not a product of being so far ahead in the division. Don’t get lazy, boys. Play like you are behind. Catch the damn ball!!!
Offensive Analysis: If the fielders actually caught the balls, the Yankees offense would have been enough. They scored 8 runs on 13 hits. Jeter got 3 more hits, Melky had a 3-run homer after colliding with Johnny in the outfield, which sent me into hysterics. I was worried about them. But they were okay, as Melky showed with his homer. The Yankees were hitting, they just lost for other reasons, ahem,,,catch the ball, ahem…They didn’t look dead at the plate like they do in many of their loses.

The only bright spots about the game for me were that, well first of all I got to stare open-mouthed at Sergio Mitre, which is a treat I will take any day. Melky had a 3-run homer after colliding with Damon, so he is okay. And I actually got to see my Cervelli again!!! He caught at the end of the game. Boy, did I miss him. Everything about him is cute. I was glad to see him play. Hopefully he will catch at least 1 game in the doubleheader today. I will be very upset if he doesn’t. The Smelly Sox won yesterday, so our lead is back to 7.5 games. But hopefully we can increase that lead today. I guess they all just had a bad day on the field. It happens, but to the Yankees? No. But yes. They are just human. We have just been spoiled with perfectly played games all year long. I guess they can mess up once in awhile. ONCE IN AWHILE, boys, that was the “once” and the rest of the season is the “awhile.” So be perfect for the rest of the year, okay? Hahaha. I still love you guys. Especially you, Sergio. love you. 😉 GO YANKEES!!!
**Note** I was so caught up in my frustration over the game that I forgot something: I would just like to thank everyone for making me #11 on the Latest Leader’s list. I can’t believe I was even on it, not to mention that high up on my first time. It really is quite an honor and I thank all of you from the bottom of my hearts for coming by and reading and sharing your thoughts. It really means a lot to me. Just Another Win
Yankees Play Well And Win Game 3
It was just another win for the Yankees yesterday. The offense was good, the starter did well, and the bullpen was great. It seems like this is how it always is, aside from a few random losses like in game 2. It was a good game yesterday. The Yankees beat the Blue Jays 6-4.
Pitching Analysis: Andy Pettitte was the starter for the Yankees yesterday. He was pretty good, but not nearly as good as in his flirt with perfection in his last start. Andy went 6 innings and allowed 4 runs on just 4 hits. He issued 5 walks, a bit much, and he struckout 3 along the way. It was a nice outing for Andy as he picked up his 13th win of the year. I hope he decides to come back next year.
To leadoff the 2nd inning, Randy Ruiz hit a solo homer. I was pissed. It looked so foul. The umpires used the instant replay on it. It ws clearly foul in my eyes, but I always give the Yankees the benefit in the call. To my surprise, the umpires ruled the ball a foul ball, which really bothered Ruiz. He grounded out in that at-bat, but he hit his solo homer later in the game.
The bullpen did a fantastic job yesterday. Robertson, Bruney, and Hughes combined for 3 scoreless innings. Robertson and Bruney picked up holds, and Hughes got his 3rd save. Bravo boys!
Defensive Analysis: The defense was sloppy in some places yesterday, but it made enough of the plays for the win. In the 5th with runners on 1st and 2nd, a comebacker was hit to Andy, who looked toward 2nd to throw the ball. But neither Jeter nor Cano were covering the bag. Everyone was safe. Luckily, Andy got out of the inning unscathed. In the 6th with a man aboard, Bautista hit a ball deep to center that was a tough play for Melky. Melky couldn’t make the play. Hairston fired the ball to Jeter, who tried to get Bautista out at 3rd. But Jeter made a wild throw and Andy didn’t back it up, and Bautista scored! An inside the park 2-run homer? No. It was a triple, RBI, and an E6. Whatever it was, it was sloppy.
Offensive Analysis: The Yankees made up for getting shutout by jumping out to an early lead in the 2nd. My man Melky got himself an RBI single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead. In the 4th, Robinson Cano led off the inning with a homer. 2-0 Yankees. With 1 out, Melky came up. He was hit by the pitch in his cute little butt (again) and he screamed before the ball even hit him. Oh, Melky. Cano and many others in the dugout where laughing at Leche. Why do they always laugh when Melky gets hurt? Is it THAT funny? Well, Melky seemed alright, so I guess it was. Just another Melky moment.

After the Jays tied up the game in the 4th, Mark Teixeira led off the inning with a home run. They were too busy showing a replay from the previous inning and when they went back to the game, Tex was rounding the bases. Go Tex! 3-2 Yankees. In the 6th, Alex Rodriguez came through with another clutch RBI single up the middle. I like this Arod. He is not trying to hit homers and be the big star anymore. I always said that sometimes all you need is a single, and now Arod sees that. Good for him. Posada added an RBI single of his own in that inning, making it 5-2 Yankees. Melky tacked on another one with another RBI single in the 9th.
It was a good game to watch yesterday. There was a little bit of everything. Homers, singles, interesting plays, instant replay, good pitching, it was just a good game. Better because we won. The heroes are Melky Cabrera, for again provideing comic relief for the club and for his 2 RBIs, Robinson Cano for going 3-4 with a homer, and the bullpen for holding the lead. The Smelly Sox who cheat at Fenway were not at Fenway yesterday and they lost! So the Yankees now have an 8.5 game lead!!! There are only a few weeks left, and we have a huge lead! Don’t get me wrong. A lot can happen, it is possible. But hey. It isn’t probable. Sexy mu..mum..mu Mitre pitches today. I hope he does well. GO YANKEES!!!!!

They Won Again, Their 7th In A Row
Seriously, the Yankees are amazing. They can’t stop hitting. It’s so cool. And all things considered, the pitching was pretty good, too. The Yankees beat the Blue Jays last night 10-5.
Pitching Analysis: Chad Gaudin started for the Yanks, and he was…ehh…decent? He only went 3 & 2/3 innings and threw 80 pitches, but he kept us in the game. He gave up 3 runs on 4 hits 3 walks and 2 strikeouts. Not too bad, considering he is Chad Gaudin. Alfredo Aceves relieved him, and he went 2 & 1/3 and gave up 2 runs. Robertson, Bruney, and Marte combined for a scoreless rest of the game. Damaso Marte is not making me nervous anymore. Since coming off the DL, he has been superb. His ERA is now only 8.38, which sounds awful, but it used to be like 15. He is proving that he will be very valuable for this team. And Robertson, he is something else, too. He is a strikeout machine. I hope the Yankees hold on to him, because I think he has the potential to be a dominating force in the pen.
They both have high socks and cool windups. And they are both suprisingly good!
Defensive Analysis: It was pretty good last night. Arod made an error, but whatever. Jeter made a nice play, though. He is having a fabulous offensive season, but his defense has been great as well. I think Jeter has proved this year that he can play shortstop and will for the rest of his Hall of Fame career. Jeter should be MVP this year. I don’t care if Joe Mauer hits .400. Without Mauer, the Twins would still be losing. Without Jeter, the Yankees wouldn’t be in the position they are. They would be behind the Sox. Jeet has been so clutch for this club, and he means so much. He is the MVP, no question about it in my mind. I just hope the voters aren’t as blind and stupid as I think they are. Vote for Jeter!!!

Offensive Analysis: In the 1st with the bases loaded, Matsui got a bases clearing triple, but it was changed to an error on the right fielder. But who cares? The runs counted. Then Jorge drove in Matsui with an RBI single. 4-0 Yankees.
My man Melky got himself an RBI double in the 4th. He is out of his slump. His average is at .277. He is quite a force from the #9 hole. I love Melky. In the 5h, Johnny led off with a walk, followed by Tex’s walk. Arod came through in the clutch again with an RBI single. He is hitting the ball so much better lately, using the whole field, this is the Arod I remember. Mmm…I like this Arod! Later in the inning, Jorge got another RBI single. 7-3 Yankees.
In the 9th, the Yankees were still swinging the bats well. Alex Rodriguez hit a 2 out, line drive homer. It was amazing. It got out so fast. Michael Kay was like, “Does it have the heig- See ya!” He couldn’t even finish “height,” the ball was already out. It was cool. Matsui walked, Jerry pinch ran, and Jorge crushed the ball for a 2-run homer. it was 10-5, and that was the final score.
It was another fun day to be a Yankee fan. The heroes are Jorge Posada, for going 4-5 with 4 RBI, and Arod for his 2-4, 2 RBI night and for once again proving that he is clutch. The Yankees have won 7 in a row, and things look great right now. The Smelly Sox won, too, so our lead remains the same. The Yankees are 86-48. Look at how good that is. They are almost 40 games over .500! GO YANKEES!!!! I LOVE YOU!!!!!

They were definitely the Drama Club last night. I thought last night’s game would be a Yankees Classic. I thought I was going to see history. I thought I was going to cry when Jerry…..(sigh)…poor Jerry. Poor Andy, but more poor Jerry. But you know what? We won. It’s okay. The Yankees beat the Orioles 5-1 last night.
Pitching Analysis: Andy Pettitte is the story. First inning, 1-2-3. 2nd? 1-2-3. 3rd? 1-2-3. How about the 4th? 1-2-3. 5th? 1-2-3. You’ve gotta be kidding me? Alright. What about the 6th? 1-Hairston made great play for 2-3. What about the 7th? Oh, the 7th. I don’t like this part…Jerry..(sigh)…now just a no-hitter….now not even that…(sigh)…it was heartbreaking….my heart is broken….I feel bad….for..Jerry….more than…anyone!
Andy pitched beautifully.
I need to pull myself together. It probably wouldn’t have happened anyway. Andy pitched 8 innings, 6 & 2/3 perfect, but gave up 2 hits and 1 run. Bruney started the 9th, but let it get messy. Mo was called upon, and he got his 37th save. Andy was fabulous. He was mixing his pitches very well, and his curveball was too good! It’s a shame Andy didn’t get the perfecto, but he pitched a helluva game for the win, and that is what really counts. You will always be perfect in my mind, Andy. 🙂
Defensive Analysis: Everyone was on their toes and ready to do anything to save the perfecto. In the 6th with 1 out, Matt Wieters hit a slow roller that was almost bunt-like. I was like, “No! This is it!” But then Jerry came into the picture. He barehanded it, and fired a strike to Tex for the out! “Wow!” I thought, “Jerry, you saved the game! If he does it, it’s because of you!” Ehh…In the 7th (gulp) with 2 out, Adam Jones hit a sharp grounder right at Jerry. I said “Yeah!” when I saw it off the bat. And then..I don’t know what happened…Jerry..just…missed it…He was right there…ready to make the play…but the ball….went through his legs!….Andy was heartbroken, although he tried to conceal it on the mound…Jerry just flicked the ball back like nothing happened…when you could tell that he was on the verge of tears…I almost cried for him. The next batter, Nick Markakis, singled. Now the no-no was gone, too. If Jerry would have made that play, who knows what I could be writing about now.

Offensive Analysis: The Yankees were quiet until the 3rd, when Nick Swisher led off with a solo homer. In the 5th, Cano led off with a double, and then Swish doubled to score him. 2-0 Yankees, all thanks to Swish. Thanks Swish!

In the 8th the Yankees got some insurance runs. Jeet led off with a double and scored on a single by Johnny. Tex singled. With 2 out, Cano doubled, scoring 2 runs. 5-0 Yankees. They wound up winning 5-1.
Jerry’s error was huge, I’m not going to lie. He is going to feel guilty for that for a long time. It was SO cute how after that inning, everyone in the dugout went over to console Jerry, inculding Girardi, who put is finger on Jerry’s chin and told him to keep his chin up. They were all so cute and sweet to him. I love this team. I love them. I have never felt this way about a Yankee team. I love every man on it. And they seem to all have a special bond with each other. This is a playoff team. I can feel it. They have the team attitude to go all the way.
The heroes for the victory are Andy Pettitte, for obvious reasons, Nick Swisher, who quietly had a great day at the plate, and the Yankee team, for trying to pick up Jerry’s spirits. Although it probably did not work, Jerry had to feel a little better that everyone cared. The Smelly Sox who cheat at Fenway did not play last night, so the Yanks gained 1/2 a game and now have a 6.5 game lead. GO YANKEES!!!! I LOVE YOU, JERRY!!! ♥♥♥
**Note** Tomorrow I return to school. 11th grade. I have school Wed and Thurs, but I’m off Fri and Mon. I will try to blog either from school or at home after school. Yanks Sweep ChiSox Thanks To Late Inning Rally
Another sweep in the books. Now the Yanks go on the road again. It seems like they are never home. Whatever. It was a good game yesterday. Everyone did their part. The Yankees beat the White Sox 8-3.
Pitching Analysis: Joba, with the new Joba rules, pitched yesterday. He was scheduled to go 3 innings, which is absurd. He only went 3 innings, but he just threw 35 pitches. Shouldn’t they go by pitches instead of innings? Whatever. Joba gave up 2 runs on 4 hits in 3 innings. He looked good though. He worked quickly and had fast innings. And he wore high socks and long sleeves, which looked cool. Alfredo Aceves relieved Joba, and once again did an amazing job in his long relief role. Aceves pitched 3 innings of scoreless baseball, and recorded his 9th win of the year.

Marte pitched yesterday, too. He came in to get 1 batter, the power lefty Jim Thome. Well, he did his job. He got Thome to fly out, so out went Marte and in came David Robertson. Robertson struggled a bit. With 2 outs in the inning, he allowed 2 singles, setting up a possible rally for the Sox. Girardi didn’t want to take any chances. He pulled Robertson for Hughes, who got out of that jam and pitched a scorless 8th as well. Phil Coke pitched the 9th, and allowed a solo homer to Dye.
I was pleased with the pitching yesterday. The bullpen did a wonderful job. There were a lot of innings to get through, and they did it.
Defensive Analysis: The defense was again solid. Joba worked fast, and so did everyone else, so the defense was ready to make every play. Jeter was, that’s for sure. In the 5th, a sharp liner was hit to him, which he snared beautifully for the out. In the 6th, Arod started a beautiful around the horn 5-4-3 double play to get Ace out of a mini jam.
Offensive Analysis: Jeter started off the game with a double, which meant the Yankees were going to win. He wound up scoring on a sac fly by Tex. The Yanks quickly tied up the game at 1.
In the 3rd, Jeter did it again. He got an innocent little 2 out single. I didn’t even bother writing it down, because I figured nothing would happen. Well, I wound up writing that and something else down. Johnny came up, all cute and silly like he always is, and smashed a homer into Damon’s Deck in right, giving the Yankees a 3-2 lead. Go Johnny go! How could the Yankees get rid of you? I don’t know. Maybe if they were blind the whole year and missed all the clutch things you did for us. They have to keep Johnny. He is having a career year, and I believe the new Yankee Stadium has something to do with that. KEEP JOHNNY!!!

The Yankee bats remained quiet until the 7th. And in the 7th, they were loud. Posada led off with a single and was forced by Cano. Hinske walked, and my man Melky came up. Just when everyone was thinking that Melky was starting to stink, he ripped a double into left. It was hit SO hard. It had to be the hardest ball I have seen hit in awhile. Melky’s double scored Cano, but I didn’t think it would because it was hit SO hard. But it did. 4-2 Yankees. Thanks Leche! Jeter was intentionally walked, which brought up Jerry Hairston, who took Johnny’s place because Johnny’s calves were bothering him. Jerry came through with a sac fly. 5-2 Yanks. And then, Big Tex came up. He almost went deep his last time up. This time, Tex got a hanging curveball, and his eyes widened to the point of me and my brother Bobby laughing because he looked so silly. Anyway, Tex hit an absolute bomb for a 3-run homer! 8-2 Yankees. Congrats Tex!

It was an all-around nice game yesterday. The pitching, defense, and offense were all great. What more could we ask for? The heroes for the victory are the Yankee relievers, who all impressed me and got through the game, Johnny Damon for his blast that gave the Yankees the lead, and Mark Teixeira for having 4 RBI and making me and my brother laugh with that funny face he made. Nice job, Yanks! I’m getting really used to saying this part: once again, the Smelly Sox who cheat at Fenway won again, so the Yankee lead remains at 6 games. Jeez I’ve said that a lot these past few days! Ahh. 6 games up. I want more. GO YANKEES!!!

Mitre Excellent As Yanks Blowout ChiSox
OMG yesterday was amazing. Everyone knows that I love Sergio Mitre with a passion, and when he did so well yesterday, it made my day. Oh, and the Yankees hit well, too. The Yankees beat the White Sox 10-0.
Pitching Analysis: Sergio Mitre started for the Yanks, and many people probably thought he would do his same old thing. Except me. I always believe in him. He is so sexy that he can do no wrong. The Yanks were the Drama Club pitching wise yesterday for the first 4 innings. Mitre was perfect through 4 and 1/3. PERFECT. Like, no hits no walks just outs. Mitre. Perfect. He’s always perfect in my eyes, but now everyone else got to see it. Thome broke up the perfecto with a double. Darn. I was so mad when he did that. After that hit, the crowd gave Mitre a huge hand. Rightfully so.

In the 7th, after a leadoff walk to Lillibridge, AJ Pierzinski came up. I hate him. But after his at-bat I hated him more. He hit a line drive comebacker right at Sergio. It hit off his forearm, and I screamed. But he was so cute. He touched his arm and then ran for the ball. He threw out AJ. Then Girardi and the trainer came out to see if my baby was ok. Like a real man, he wanted to stay in the game. Oh! My heart! So macho, so tough. I love him. But Girardi didn’t want to take any chances. He pulled Mitre, who as he jogged back into the dugout, got a standing ovation. I was soo close to just bawling all over the floor. I was sad that he got hurt and had that bad break, but I was so touched that the fans gave him a standing ovation. Mitre belongs now. To everyone, not just to me. His arm swelled up immediately, and some skin was broken. The poor baby! It looked so painful. But don’t worry, Sergio my love, I’ll make it better. Let me kiss it for you. I want to kiss your boo-boo. Just don’t tell your wife. 🙂

Chad Gaudin took forever to warm up, but once he started pitching, we was great. 2 & 2/3 innings of no-hit ball. Nice.
Defensive Analysis: The defense was great yesterday. Arod made an amazing play to keep the perfecto alive. In the 4th. he made a diving play on a sharp grounder and fired to first for the out. Sadly, the no-no was broken up in the next at-bat. But Arod did his part. Cano also made a great play in the 6th. He scooped up a fast grounder, having to practically run into left field, and easily threw across his body to Tex for the out. Nicely done, Robbie.
Offensive Analysis: The offense was on fire yesterday. All of their runs but 1 were base hits. Just 1 was a homer, thanks to Arod. Everyone have a nice day at the plate, except for Tex, but he scored a run. Jerry Hairston, who I am starting to really love, came through with a clutch double to give the Yankees the lead they never relinquished.

Those stats are courtesy of Yankees.com. There was too much offense to tell, although I had it all written down. It was a great game all around for the Bombers. The heroes are Sergio Mitre, for making my heart almost jump through my skin, Chad Gaudin, for filling in nicely for my man, and the Yankee lineup, for exploding with offense. Once again, the smelly sox who cheat at Fenway won again. But whatever. I am happy today. My Yanks have a 6 game lead, and Sergio Mitre had an amazingly good start. He really moved me yesterday. I hope he can make his next start, and for the first time I am not the only one who wishes that! Mitre, baby, seriously, if your arm still hurts, let me kiss it for you and make it better. I would be more than willing to do that. FEEL BETTER, SEXY!!! GO YANKEES!!!
