Another Random Loss….But It Doesn’t Matter, Right?
Yanks Lose To The Team I Now Hate
We lost again. That was our third loss in a row. But it doesn’t matter, does it? We already clinched, so we are in for sure. But are these losses ruining the momentum of the Yankees? Are they trying their best? Is it wise to rest the players so much, or will they lose their groove at the plate? I don’t know. I hope Girardi knows. The Yankees lost last night 5-3.
Pitching Analysis: Andy Pettitte started for the Yankees. He wasn’t too good, but he wasn’t too bad. They took him out early to give the relievers some work. Andy went 4 & 1/3 innings of 5 run ball (just 3 were earned). His line could have looked better if he pitched longer, but it was more important to test the relievers.

Alfredo Aceves and Chad Gaudin pitched in relief last night, and they both did an excellent job. If it wasn’t for that error, maybe the Yankees would have had a chance to win.
Defensive Analysis: In the 5th after Andy was pulled for Aceves, something stupid happened. With 1st and 2nd and 1 out, Ace had the runner picked off who was breaking for 3rd. He threw to Hinske, and the ball went off the top of Hinske’s glove, and into left field. 2 runs scored, and I was a bit annoyed. Those runs were charged to Andy, and the error was charged to Aceves. I thought it was Hinske’s error, because he did get a glove on it. Whatever. The runs scored, it doesn’t matter whose fault it was.
Offensive Analysis: The Yankees struggled at the plate once again. They scored just 3 runs on 9 hits. They out-hit the Rays, but they failed to get the big hit. I started to get mad at the Rays again. They hit Jerry Hairston twice, the first time in the kidney and the second time in the shoulder. Poor Jerry.
In the 5th, Johnny Damon got himself a much-needed RBI single, which was followed by an RBI single by Tex. In the 6th, Jerry had an RBi infield single. Other than that, the offense didn’t do anything.
What I liked seeing last night was the running game. Gardner had 2 stolen bases, Guzman had one, and Jerry tried to steal but was caught. That’s okay, though. I would rather see them get out stealing than just standing there on the base and letting the hitters make out. Stealing bases forces the other team to make the play. If they do, it is no fault on your part, they just deserve credit.
So the Yankees lost again, but I don’t think Girardi managed the game to win. He put in all the second-string guys and he pulled Andy early. Is this a problem, though? Shouldn’t he try to win so the Yankees have momentum going into the playoffs? Well, in 2000 the Yanks had a rough September and they won it all. This year, we aren’t really having a rough September. We clinched early and now we are just casually heading into the postseason. I shouldn’t be worrying. The Yankees are the best team; they will be fine. GO YANKEES!
An Odd Win, And A Not-So-Exciting Loss

That walkoff win was pretty awesome. It was definitely a Drama Club win if I have ever seen one! In last night’s loss, the Yankees looked a bit tired. On Tuesday the Yankees won 4-3, and last night they lost 4-3.
The Win
Pitching Analysis: A.J. Burnett beasted it Tuesday night. He was great!!! He was spotting his fastball, and used that curve to his advantage. I think I am ready to fully trust A.J. again. Whethere he is the #2 or #3 starter in the postseason, I think he will do a fine job. Yeah, A.J.!

Phil Coke (he signed my baseball!) pitched well in the 7th, it was his defense that was gross. David Robertson returned on Tuesday. He recorded 2 outs in the 7th, walked Callaspo,and was pulled for Bruney. He looked good, his velocity was there, and I was glad to see him back. Bruney did a nice job as well.
Defensive Analysis: Phil Coke’s horrible defense was the reason the walkoff was needed. He took too long to field the bunt, and it wound up being a single. Then, with first and second and 1 out, he got a comebacker, which he threw into left field! A run scored, and now the Royals had a 2-1 lead. Then another comebacker was hit to him, and instead of throwing home, he threw to first! COKE! What was wrong with you? You pitched great, but your defense! Ugh! At least we won that game.
Offensive Analysis: These Yankees have a LOT of power, and they seem like they can always come back. Tex hit a solo homer in the 6th to tie the game at 1. In the 7th, Swish led off with a solo homer, cutting the deficit to 3-2. the 9th is where the magic happened.
Ex-Yankee Kyle Farnsworth was called upon to nail down the save for the Royals. But a Yankee rally was on its way. My darling-baby Francisco Cervelli got himself a 1-out single to start the rally. Eric Hinske pinch-hit, and he got a single, moving Cervelli to 3rd. Hinske (he signed my baseball!) then surprisingly stole 2nd! The throw went wild, and Hinske went to 3rd as Cervelli scored, knotting the score at 3-3. Johnny Damon was intentionally walked to get to Juan Miranda. I was thinking that Tex was on deck, but he was taken out. It was going to be Miranda. I was thinking, “Miranda? Oh, this kid isn’t gonna do anything. It’s too much pressure. Well, with 1 out, all he has to do is put the ball in play….I hope he doesn’t strike out…” Obviously, Miranda heard me. All he had to do was put the ball in play, and the Yankee Stadium Magic would take care of the rest. And that’s what happened.

Miranda hit a sharp comebacker to Farsworth, and off the bat I was thinking, “Oh sh!t. This won’t get the job done.” But then the Yankee Stadium Magic took over. The ball hit off Farsworth’s foot, and began heading for foul territory! And it was a fair ball! Farnsworth raced toward the ball, and Miranda hustled toward the bag. Miranda won. The dugout emptied, he got pied, and the Yankees won 4-3. It was odd, but I loved it.

The Loss
Pitching Analysis: Joba Chamberlain started last night, and he really disappointed me. He only went 3 & 2/3 innings, and allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, and he threw 91 pitches. That’s a little ridiculous. I expected better things from Joba last night. He didn’t make me too happy.

Aceves, Albaladejo (he signed my baseball!), Marte, Mitre (♥I♥love♥this♥guy♥), Hughes and Mo all pitched in relief last night. I had a big history test to study for last night. I set time aside for it, and since nothing spectacular was happening in the game last night, I was going to study for a long time. On my way to my room to study, I heard, “And Mitre will get off the bench, and he will come in to pitch.”
I stopped in my tracks. My thoughts: “Mitre? Tonight? Right now? But the test, it’s my first one and I know it will be hard. But Mitre! He’s hot and I love him and it could be the last time I see him. AAAAHH!!! What do I do? Do I drool over that sexy-thang and wind up flunking tomorrow, or do I study and miss my baby? I only had a short time to decide, the commercials are short between pitching changes. Although I like my history teacher and would love to do well, I like Mitre more. I watched him. I just studied after. I made such a big deal about that decision. I just studied after Mitre pitched. I won both ways!
Defensive Analysis: Now I love Nick Swisher, but when Mitre was pitching in the 7th, what happened on that play? John Buck hit a deep fly ball to right, and Swish looked as if he was going to make the play. But he turned and switched directions, and the ball fell. Then he was lying there on the ground, and tried to roll the ball over to Melky. It was a disaster. Buck wound up with an RBI triple, and Mitre gave up a run. But it was charged to Marte, so I was not as annoyed. That run was the difference in the game. Oh well. You can’t win them all.
Offensive Analysis: The offense was quite dead last night. 3 runs on 5 hits. Jeet had a solo homer and Swish had a 2-run shot, but that was it. They looked tired last night. Whatever.
We won the series. And we clinched awhile ago! I love the way that sounds! The heroes for the victory on Tuesday are A.J. Burnett for his stellar performance, and his pieing, Eric Hinske, for that timely stolen base that set the whole thing up, and Juan Miranda, for putting the ball in play and letting the magic take over. That was the last regular season game in the Bronx. I believe that the new stadium is going to provide the Yankees with a huge homefield advantage. I can’t wait! I’m, getting so excited!!! GO YANKEES!!!!!!
Rookies, Rookies Everywhere!
Second-String Yanks Beat Royals
Last night’s Yankee game was like Heaven for me. The cutest guys were playing. All the little rookies that I love. If only Mitre pitched….I think I would have died….-sigh-….Uhh…anyway, the Yankees beat the Royals 8-2 last night, and they did it with the second-string guys.
Pitching Analysis: Chad Gaudin started for the Yanks last night, and once again, they won with him on the mound. Chad pitched well. Very well. I think this was his best start as a Yankee. He went 6 & 2/3 innings of 2-run ball. He allowed just 4 hits, and struckout 5. Yeah, Chad! He is pitching his way onto the postseason roster! He is a good guy to have, if he continues pitching this well. His versatility makes him even more of a weapon. Gaudin can be used in many different ways, and he is equally dominant in each role.
Marte and Aceves finished out the game. They both did a nice job. The pitching was excellent yesterday. Keep it up, Yanks. October awaits!
Offensive Analysis: It was the cutest lineup ever. I was dying to see the game, and when I heard there was a rain delay, I was so mad! I was all ready to sit and watch the game at 7:00. I did all my work, all my studying, I was all set! And then the rain ruined it. I had to wait for what seemed like 10 hours! Do you know how I felt? It would be different if I didn’t know the lineup. But I did, and I knew about Cervelli and then I just went crazy.
But, after an eternity an hour and 56 minute rain delay, the game finally started. Here is the lineup, and the game stats to go along with it:

Frikin’ adorable! Cervelli, Melky, Ramiro, and Brettiboo all in the same lineup! The offense was good last night. In the 4th, Hinske got an RBI single, right through the whole of the shift. Ramiro Pena hit is first career homer, a solo shot, in the 5th. Arod decided to give him the silent treatment. He and Swisher told everyone not to congradulate him. Ramiro headed back to the dugout, and no one even looked at him. The poor thing! Then suddenly, the whole dugout jumped up at once and went over to congradulate the cute kid. CONGRATS, RAMIRO!!! That made it 2-1 Yankees.

Later in the game, the 7th to be exact, Robbie Cano hit a grand slam. He has been ON FIRE lately. Good for him!

It was a fun game for me last night. I love those little cuties. The heroes for the victory are Chad Gaudin, for his great start, Robinson Cano for his grand-salami, and Ramiro Pena for being cute and getting his first homer. And Cervelli, just because I watched him behind the plate instead of watching Gaudin pitch. I do that. Whenever he plays, I just stare at him the whole time. Everything he does is cute! I can’t explain it…I’m just obsessed with the guy. No one cares about what the Red Sox did, because WE CLINCHED ALREADY!!!! God, I love the sound of that. Hahaha. GO YANKEES!
Yanks Take Two!!!
Yanks Win Both Games. And I Am Filled With Smiles!!!
Ahhh…We won both games. How comforting. We pitched well, we actually caught the ball, and the offense was great. And somebody sent me something which I am wearing right now. I thank that somebody 🙂 The Yankees won the first game 4-1 and the second game 11-1.
Pitching Analysis: CC pitched game 1, and he was awesome and worth the money as always. He pitched 7 innings of 1-run ball, that one coming off the bat of Evan Longoria and his solo homer. He got into a few jams, but he made it out via the strikeout. It was a great game for CC. Hughes pitched the 8th, and Mo pitched the 9th.
CC is a beast.
Game 2 was A.J.’s turn. I was wondering which A.J. would show up. The stinky I-can’t-locate-my-fastball A.J., or the A.J. with the great fastball and the nasty curve. Well, in the 1st inning, A.J. allowed a run. Darn. The stinky A.J. was pitching. But wait! He turned things around and did not allow a run for the rest of the game! Hooray! A.J. is back! This could be the perfect time for him to heat up….going down the final stretch…gett’n ready for the POSTSEASON!!! Perfect timing, A.J.

Edwar Ramirez pitched next, followed by a Jonathan Albaladejo with weird eyes (poor thing!) and the nervous kid Michael Dunn finished out the game. The pitching was fabulous, as usual.
Defensive Analysis: Unlike the other day, the Yankees actually caught the ball! Wow! I gues everyone just had their bad day on the same day. But in both games yesterday, the defense was great. Brett Gardner made himself right at home in centerfield in game 1….even though that catch was in right field. In the 4th inning of game 1, Brett ran all the way into deep right field, and made a dive/slide to rob the Ray of a double. It was the right fielder’s ball, but I was glad to see Gardy make the play. Way to go Brettiboo!!!

Offensive Analysis: In game 1, the offense looked a bit sluggish. Arod had a great day at the plate, but before the 8th, no one else was hitting well. But the 8th is where is all changed. Swish led off with a walk, and thanks to Tex it was 2nd and 3rd none out. Arod was intentionally walked, Cano got a sac fly, Jorge singled, and Hinske got a sac fly. It was 4-1, and the Yankees won it by that score.
In game 2, the offense exploded again. The Yankees had an 8 run 3rd inning. They tacked on more later. Everyone was hitting, accept the guy we all wanted to hit. Jeet was hitless for both games. Poor guy. He is stressing a bit, it is obvious. Don’t panic, Jeet! We LOVE you!!! Mark Teixeira had 2 homers, Melky had 3 hits, the lineup was on fire!

I saw my Cervelli baby again. I was a bit angry at Girardi for not letting Cervelli start one of the games, but whatever. At least I saw him…sooo cute….yeah…
It was a great day for the Yanks. 2 wins in 1 day is pretty darn good. The heroes for game 1 are CC, the bullpen, and Arod. For game 2, the heroes are A.J., Tex, and Melky. It was another fun day to be a Yankee fan. And because of these wins, and the Red Sox loss, the Yankees now have an EXTREMELY COZY 9 GAME LEAD!!!!! WAHOOO!!!! The Smelly Sox are running out of time. That is awesome. I smell something….a championship, maybe? I’ve been waiting for awhile…I hope this is the year. GO YANKEES!!!!!!
Oh, and I would just like to thank my friend Cat for this lovely shirt. An Andre Ethier shirt, signed by Andre himself. I was SO hyper during school today. I could not wait to get the mail!!! What A Boring Game
Yanks are 1-Hit Versus Jays
Last night’s game was the most boring game I have seen all year. Nothing good happened for the Yankees. It was very frustrating. Ugh. The Yankees’ winning streak was snapped last night as they lost to the Blue Jays 6-0.
Pitching Analysis: Joba Chamberlain had another short start for the Yankees. He did not pitch well. He went 3 innings and allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. He threw about 60 pitches. Do the math and that is 20 pitches per inning. That is unacceptible. After 3 innings, Mark Melancon took over and gave up 1 run in 2 innings. He was absolutely wild. He hit like 10 batters. He could not control anything he put inside. Jonathan Albaladejo went next, and he pitched a scoreless inning. Michael Dunn pitched next, and by this time I wasn’t watching. He gave up 2 runs in 2/3 of an inning. Last came Edwar Ramirez, who pitched a scoreless inning and a third. The pitching wasn’t great last night, but all the Jays needed to win was 1 run.

Defensive Analysis: The defense didn’t help Joba out too much. There were plays that should have been made that the defense screwed up. In the first inning, Aaron Hill hit a ball to deep right that Hinske ran to get under. He jumped, and the ball went off his glove. Hill had a double. It was not the easiest play to make, but I am confident that Swisher would have made it, however silly he had to be to glove it. Later in the inning, Ramiro Pena made an error on a routine grounder. He lifted his glove, anticipating a high hop on the artificial turf, but instead the ball stayed down and got through, allowing a run to score. It was not a pretty defensive night for the Yanks.

Offensive Analysis: Where were the Bombers last night? The Yankees looked dead at the plate. The only hit was off the bat of Ramiro Pena. That was it, accept for 3 walks scattered into the lineup. The Yankees failed to make adjustments last night. They stared at strikes, fell behind, and wound up striking out. It was awful and upseting to watch, which is why I didn’t watch the whole game. After 6 innings I called it quits. 1 hit? Come on.
It was an ugly game all around last night. But luckily, the Red Sox lost. That must kill them. The Yankees finally lost a game, and then they lose too. Ha. I guess the Yankee loss was not so bad. I mean, they didn’t play well, but it didn’t cost them anything. It cost me time, though. It was boring. Whatever. I am sure the Yankees will bounce back with another 7 game winning streak. It seems like they always do. 1 loss in every 8 games? Hey, I’ll take it. GO YANKEES!!!

Yanks Sweep O’s And I Returned To School
I blogged about the first game of the series, which was a great game despite it not being a perfecto. And these last 2 were just as good. On Tuesday, the Yankees won 9-6. Last night they won 10-2. They swept the Orioles! Yay!
Pitching Analysis: A.J. Burnett started for the Yanks on Tuesday night, and he was not too sharp. The offense kept giving him a lead, and he kept blowing it. I thought it was because Jorge was catching him, and those two cranky fellas can’t get along, but Girardi said that was not the case. A.J. was just missing hs spots. His curveball didn’t give me that feeling of satisfaction. It was a lame curve and was being hit hard. But he managed to grind out 6 innings. Damaso Marte did a nice job on Tuesday. I am slowly building confidence in him. Robertson and Coke also pitched. 6 runs were allowed, but the offense picked up the pitchers. We won, so it couldn’t have been too bad.
Last night was CC’s turn, and every start he pitches I only love him more. I always say it, and I am going to say it again: CC Sabathia was worth EVERY PENNY. He is AMAZINGLY GOOD. I love him. He went 7 innings of 1 run, 9 strikeout ball. And he reached the 200 inning mark on the year. Congrats CC!!! Brian Bruney pitched a third of the 8th and allowed a solo homer to rookie Nolan Reimold. The “Philthies” both were scoreless to finish out the win.
CC is the first to 16 wins! Yeah! Love ya, CC!!
Defensive Analysis: I don’t remember anything special about Tuesday, so let’s look at last night. In the 7th, Robinson Cano (Gold Glover!!!) made a spectacular play to end the inning on a double play ball. The way he flips his wrist and the ball just flies to first base; it’s just amazing! He is so talented. If he doesn’t win the Gold Glove award, then no one should.
Offensive Analysis: In both games, the Yankees were swinging the bats well. On Tuesday, Jorge Posada had 2 homers, a solo and a 2-run. Maybe that’s why Girardi played him that night! In the 7th, Swishalicious hit a 2-run BOMB, and Eric Hinske went back-to-back with Swish with a solo shot of his own.
Last night was another offensive explosion for the Bombers. There were 10 runs on 17 hits! One thing both of these games had in common was that they consisted of a big inning. Tuesday it was the 7th where 3 runs were scored. Last night, it was a huge inning. 7 runs in the top of the 9th. I kind of felt bad for the Orioles. No one they put in was effective. The Yankees are playing great baseball. The first thing my gym teacher said to me this year was, “How ’bout those Yankees.” I was like, “Yeah, I know.” Last year at this time they were out of it, and this year they are leading the way. I absolutely LOVE every man on this team, some more than others as I am sure you know, hahaha. This team is special and I think they have a fabulous shot at going all the way. The heroes for Tuesday are Posada, for his homers, and Swishyboo and Hinske for going back-to-back. I love when that happens. Last night’s heroes are CC Sabathia, for another wonderful effort from the rubber, and Arod, for coming through in the clutch and picking up his 2500th career hit. Congrats, hottie!!! (Mitre is still hotter!!!) The Smelly Sox who cheat at Fenway are now 7.5 games behind my boys. They are on the road now, so they might lose a few games. Then we can get an even bigger lead. I love it!!!
Yay Alex!
Kind of random, but on Tuesday when I saw my darling love Francisco Cervelli in the dugout again, I screamed. If my brothers weren’t there, I think I would have ran up to the TV and kissed him through the screen. Yeah, I love him that much. Also, school was kind of gross. The AP classes are scaring me, but whatever, I’ll be fine. I don’t think I’m going to care much about school this year. I mean, I’ll try my best with the work, but I don’t really care much about anything else. I’m there to learn, so I can come home and blog it up with all of you.
Although he looks good in everything, I hope I never see my baby in a minor league uniform again. I want him to be a Yankee forever!

Yanks Sweep ChiSox Thanks To Late Inning Rally
Another sweep in the books. Now the Yanks go on the road again. It seems like they are never home. Whatever. It was a good game yesterday. Everyone did their part. The Yankees beat the White Sox 8-3.
Pitching Analysis: Joba, with the new Joba rules, pitched yesterday. He was scheduled to go 3 innings, which is absurd. He only went 3 innings, but he just threw 35 pitches. Shouldn’t they go by pitches instead of innings? Whatever. Joba gave up 2 runs on 4 hits in 3 innings. He looked good though. He worked quickly and had fast innings. And he wore high socks and long sleeves, which looked cool. Alfredo Aceves relieved Joba, and once again did an amazing job in his long relief role. Aceves pitched 3 innings of scoreless baseball, and recorded his 9th win of the year.

Marte pitched yesterday, too. He came in to get 1 batter, the power lefty Jim Thome. Well, he did his job. He got Thome to fly out, so out went Marte and in came David Robertson. Robertson struggled a bit. With 2 outs in the inning, he allowed 2 singles, setting up a possible rally for the Sox. Girardi didn’t want to take any chances. He pulled Robertson for Hughes, who got out of that jam and pitched a scorless 8th as well. Phil Coke pitched the 9th, and allowed a solo homer to Dye.
I was pleased with the pitching yesterday. The bullpen did a wonderful job. There were a lot of innings to get through, and they did it.
Defensive Analysis: The defense was again solid. Joba worked fast, and so did everyone else, so the defense was ready to make every play. Jeter was, that’s for sure. In the 5th, a sharp liner was hit to him, which he snared beautifully for the out. In the 6th, Arod started a beautiful around the horn 5-4-3 double play to get Ace out of a mini jam.
Offensive Analysis: Jeter started off the game with a double, which meant the Yankees were going to win. He wound up scoring on a sac fly by Tex. The Yanks quickly tied up the game at 1.
In the 3rd, Jeter did it again. He got an innocent little 2 out single. I didn’t even bother writing it down, because I figured nothing would happen. Well, I wound up writing that and something else down. Johnny came up, all cute and silly like he always is, and smashed a homer into Damon’s Deck in right, giving the Yankees a 3-2 lead. Go Johnny go! How could the Yankees get rid of you? I don’t know. Maybe if they were blind the whole year and missed all the clutch things you did for us. They have to keep Johnny. He is having a career year, and I believe the new Yankee Stadium has something to do with that. KEEP JOHNNY!!!

The Yankee bats remained quiet until the 7th. And in the 7th, they were loud. Posada led off with a single and was forced by Cano. Hinske walked, and my man Melky came up. Just when everyone was thinking that Melky was starting to stink, he ripped a double into left. It was hit SO hard. It had to be the hardest ball I have seen hit in awhile. Melky’s double scored Cano, but I didn’t think it would because it was hit SO hard. But it did. 4-2 Yankees. Thanks Leche! Jeter was intentionally walked, which brought up Jerry Hairston, who took Johnny’s place because Johnny’s calves were bothering him. Jerry came through with a sac fly. 5-2 Yanks. And then, Big Tex came up. He almost went deep his last time up. This time, Tex got a hanging curveball, and his eyes widened to the point of me and my brother Bobby laughing because he looked so silly. Anyway, Tex hit an absolute bomb for a 3-run homer! 8-2 Yankees. Congrats Tex!

It was an all-around nice game yesterday. The pitching, defense, and offense were all great. What more could we ask for? The heroes for the victory are the Yankee relievers, who all impressed me and got through the game, Johnny Damon for his blast that gave the Yankees the lead, and Mark Teixeira for having 4 RBI and making me and my brother laugh with that funny face he made. Nice job, Yanks! I’m getting really used to saying this part: once again, the Smelly Sox who cheat at Fenway won again, so the Yankee lead remains at 6 games. Jeez I’ve said that a lot these past few days! Ahh. 6 games up. I want more. GO YANKEES!!!

Yankees Score 20 Runs in Demoralizing Blowout Of Sox!
Seriously, the hitting was scary last night. And so was the pitching. But whatever. The Yankees took the first game of the series by the score of 20-11! In the last Yankee/Red Sox series, the first game was a blowout followed by a 15 inning pitcher’s duel. Will there be a pitcher’s duel today? Because last night the pitching was horrible!
Pitching Analysis: Andy Pettitte pitched for the Yankees, and he was pretty bad. He went 5 innings and gave up 5 runs on 7 hits. He threw 105 pitches in 5 innings. That’s a little ridiculous. There were so many runs scored last night, so I don’t feel like going through how every run was scored. But trust me, Andy was not too good last night.
Tough night for Andy, but at least the Yanks won.
In relief of Andy came Brian Bruney. He pitched an inning and a third, didn’t give up any runs, but he walked 3 and got himself into a large jam. Damaso Marte was called upon to get out of Bruney’s bases loaded 1 out jam. Marte got his 2 batters out without allowing a run.
Sergio Mitre pitched the final 2 innings, which was a treat for me because I had no idea he would pitch last night and any chance I get to stare at him is fine with me! He had a nice 1-2-3 8th, but he had a little trouble in the 9th. He gave up 4 runs before nailing down the final out. But that doesn’t really matter. The Yankees had a huge lead, so I don’t blame Mitre for going after all the hitters with fastballs. And the more runs he gave up, the longer he would have to pitch, and then I could stare at him more before I went to bed. And he looked so good yesterday…it was hot and he was sweating…so….sexy…but I was glad when he got the last out. Poor baby, he must have been so hot and tired.
So the pitching was awful yesterday, but the Yankees managed to win. That’s cool.
Defensive Analysis: The Yankees were a bit sloppy yesterday. In the 6th, Cano made a throwing error. And the next batter hit a ball into shallow center that for some reason no one caught. Whatever. In the 7th, Swisher made an outstanding play to rob Pedroia of an extra-base hit.
Offensive Analysis: The offense was amazing yesterday. Obviously Brad Penny, (who in case you didn’t see my celebrity lookalike, he looks like Larry the Cable Guy,) was unable to “Get’er Done” last night. The Yankees pounded him nonstop for 4 innings, hitting line drives all over the field. The rest of the Smelly Sox pitchers were unable to “Get’er Done” as well!

The offense was amazing last night. The pitching wasn’t, but the Yankees managed to get the win anyway. It was a demoralizing loss for the Smelly Sox last night. The heroes for the Yankee win are every member of the Yankee lineup. Everyone contributed. The Yanks now have a 7.5 game lead in the division! Alrighty then! GET ‘ER DONE BOYS!!! GO YANKEES!!!

Yankees Win Again in Dramatic Fashion
I’m giving the Yankees the nickname “The Drama Club.” It seems like every time the Yankees win, they do it dramatically. That definetely was the case last night. I was so happy when they won, because I wanted them to win for Melky on his birthday. The Yanks beat the Blue Jays by the score of 7-5.
Pitching Analysis: Joba Chamberlain pitched for the Yankees last night. It was an adequate start for Joba. He went 6 innings, giving up 4 runs on 5 hits, striking out 5 along the way. He was good early, but then ran into a little trouble.
Joba’s performance was not as good as he wanted it to be.
Joba had a scorless 1st, and an easy 1-2-3 11 pitch 2nd inning. It got a little ugly in the third. Joba walked the #9 hitter (never a smart idea) Joe Inglett, who has a really cool batting stance. Then Scutaro singled. Hill forced out, and the Adam Lind walked to load the bases. Then cleanup hitter Lyle Overbay, the obvious annoying guy of this series, hit a double in the right-center gap which cleared the bases and tied the game at 3. Ugh. In the 4th, Joba gave up a leadoff home run to the rookie Randy Ruiz, which gave the Jays a 4-3 lead.
Bruney pitched a scorless 7th, Coke and Robertson combined for a scorless 8th, and Mo picked up the save in the 9th. But he actually gave up a run! (GASP!) Edwin Encarnacion hit a solo home run to centerfield. Mo actually did the worst out of all the relievers. But he got the save, so whatever!
The pitching was pretty good last night. If you take away the 3rd, Joba pitched very well. The bullpen did a wonderful job of keeping the game at 4-3, and giving the Yankees the opportunity to win.
Defensive Analysis: The defense was again strong last night. The Yanks played errorless baseball once again. In the 1st inning, Johnny Damon made a nice play. Scutaro hit a liner to left, and it was a little over Johnny’s head. Damon went back, and thanks to a little jump, he caught the ball. Nice way to start the game.
Offensive Analysis: The Yankees came out swinging against Richmond. Jeter hit a first pitch single, followed by a Damon double. Tex singled to score Jeter. The Jorge hit a 2 out double, which scored Damon. For some unknown reason, Tex attempted to score, and failed miserably. He touched third base when the cuttoff man released the ball. That was a stupid way to end the inning. And for a long time, I thought that play would be the difference in the game.
In the 2nd, Cano got a leadoff double, moved to third because of a balk, and then scored on a sac fly by the birthday boy, Leche. That made it 3-0, and that was all the offense for a long time.
The bottom of the 8th is where it all changed. Hideki Matsui, who was 0 for 3 at the time, hit an ENORMOUS home run into right field. ENORMOUS!!! That tied the game at 4, and gave the crowd something to cheer about. Then Posada comes up, and he hits a home run to right field! But Cito Gaston wanted to make sure it was a home run. From his angle, it looked like a fan stole the ball from Inglett. But according to the replay, Inglett just missed it, and it was ruled a home run! YAY! Yankeed lead 5-4! How dramatic was that?!

The Yankees weren’t done yet. Hinske hit a 1 out double. Then my man Melky hit a single, which scored pinch runner Jerry Hairston. Melky stole second, and scored on a Johnny Damon single. Melky had a nice birthday. He was 1 for 3 with 2 RBI, 1 run, and a stolen base.
What a game for the Yankees! They jumped out early, then lost the lead, but came back dramatically late in the game and held on for the lead! The heroes for last night are Jorge & Hideki, for providing back-to-back drama, which was the 3rd night in a row the Yankees went back-to-back. The other heroes are Bruney, Coke, Robertson, and Mo for shutting down the Blue Jay offense and giving the Yankees the chance to make it dramatic. I’ll throw Melky in there as well, just for having a nice birthday. I love you, Melky! There was no change in the Yankee lead in the division. The Red Sox won as well, cheating it up at home and having brawls with cute rookie pitchers. How classless are they? The rubber game of the series will be played in the afternoon, and the Yanks look to live up to the new name I gave them. GO YANKEES!

Yankees Winning Streak is No More After Jays Take Game 1
The Yankees 7 game winning streak came to an end last night, but come on. They can’t win every game. There were positives and negatives about last night’s loss. The Blue Jays beat the Yankees 5-4.
Pitching Analysis: Sergio Mitre started for the Yanks last night. He is really sexy. He struck out the first 2 men he faced, and I thought, “Oh boy. 2 out in the 1st, it’s time to give up 5 runs.” Well, Mitre allowed singles to Lind and Overbay, and I was beginning to think my prediction was right. But Mitre proved me wrong, and struck out Vernon Wells to end the inning. He struck out the side!
Mitre struck out 2 more in the 2nd, having an easy 11 pitch inning. In the 3rd, Inglett struck out for Mitre’s 6th of the night. I was just starting to think that maybe he found it. But then Aaron Hill hit a solo home run. Darn. Why did I have to think that? I’m always wrong!
The 4th inning was gross. Overbay led off with a walk, followed by a Vernon Wells single. Bautista hit a comebacker, that was snabbed nicely by Mitre. Mitre fired to 2nd, not too accurately, and it went off Cano’s glove into centerfield, scoring a run, and no outs were made on the play. He got the double play ball, and just screwed it up! By the end of the inning, the Jays were up 4-2. In the 5th, Mitre allowed a solo bomb to Lyle Overbay.
Mitre’s biggest problem last night was throwing the ball to 2nd!
Mitre didn’t really pitch THAT badly. He went 5 innings, allowing 5 runs of which just 3 were earned, on 6 hits and he struck out 6 along the way. It was a better performance. That throwing error really messed the whole game up. If he can fix that problem, and then pitch the way he did last night again, I guarantee the Yankees will win for him. But that’s IF he can do it again!
Alfredo Aceves pitched the rest of the game. He was marvelous, allowing just 2 hits over 4 innings. He is a weapon out of the pen!
Defensive Analysis: Aside from Mitre’s crazy throw, the defense was great. Robinson Cano made a nice play in the 3rd. Scutaro hit a ball in the hole to Cano’s left, and he ran it down and threw across his body from the outfield to make the play. Underrated!
Offensive Analysis: The offense started out good, but then it sort of died toward the end of the game. Jeter hit a leadoff home run for the Yankees. Then in the 3rd, he hit a single up the middle to lead off the inning. He stole 2nd, and Barajas’ throw went into centerfield, allowing Jeter to go to 3rd. Speed kills! Then Swisher hit a sac fly, which gave the Yankees a 2-1 lead.
In the 4th, the Yankees were trailing 4-2, and Robinson Cano stepped up to the plate. He went deep to leadoff the inning! Then Jerry Hairston Jr came up. He’s adorable. Anyway, he hit a home run, his first as a Yankee, to tie the game at 4! Cano and Hairston back-to-back! He was a great pickup for the Yankees. When they got him, I was like, “Why did they get him? They have an abundance of benchies.” Well, I’m sure happy they got him. He has impressed me in every game he was in. And now the Yankees have a killer bench, in Hairston, Hinske, Pena, Gardner, (I miss him) and backup catcher Molina. (I would rather have Cervelli, but whatever!) That was all the offense for last night. They had chances to score more, but they couldn’t get the big hit.
Hairston has been nothing but a nice surprise for me. He was a wise acquisition.
So the Yankees lost a game. They didn’t really play badly, they just got beaten. It happens. It’s annoying, but it happens. The Red Sox are back at Fenway, cheating by stealing signs (it’s my theory) and they beat the Tigers last night, narrowing the Yankee lead to 5.5 games. It is very important for the Yankees to win these last 2 games at home, because then they go on the road to Seattle. Even though they are pretty good on the road, they are way better at home and can’t really afford to lose at home, especially while the Red Sox are cheatin’ it up (again, it’s just my theory) at Fenway. With Joba on the mound tonight, the Yankees are seeking a win to start a new winning streak. GO YANKEES!
