Mitre Struggles In Yankee Loss
I really feel bad for him. I really thought he would have a nice outing. You all know how I feel about him….this was just awful for me to watch. Seriously, I was close to tears. My history teacher told me that he thought “Mitre just pitched himself out of New York.” Can you imagine what I was feeling when he said that? Ugh. The Yankees lost last night 10-4.
Pitching Analysis: Sergio Mitre was…(gulp)…not..good…It pains me to say that. Mitre struggled. He went 5 innings and allowed 7 runs on 8 hits, and 4 homers. I thought he would do well because he got out of the 1st inning unscathed. And he had a scoreless 2nd. But then….that dreaded 3rd…the 2-run homer…then with 2 outs a solo homer….you can imagine how I felt….
My poor baby…what a rough game…I still love you.
Ramirez, Melancon, and Dunn finished out the game, each of them giving up a run. The Yankee pitching was not good last night at all. I’m sorry, Sergio. I still love you. (♥)
Defensive Analysis: The defense was fine as usual, but there was a different kind of defense in last night’s game involving Jorge Posada.

Whoa! Benches clear. And look who the first guy I see is…Cervelli! Right in the middle of the picture. I hope I see more of him now that Jorge is in trouble.

Some Blue Jays were hit, and then Posada was thrown behind, and he was cranky, which led to what you saw above. Pretty silly. I like brawls against the Red Sox. Those are fun because they mean something. But the Blue Jays? Come on. No rivalry there. I just hope everyone is okay.
Offensive Analysis: The Yankee offense annoyed me last night. The Yanks out-hit the Jays. The had 15 hits. Halladay was not at his best, and the Yankees could not do anything. They failed to get the big hit. It was disgusting. They had chances to score, but they didn’t. What really annoyed me was that the Blue Jays were on a home run frenzy, but the Bronx Bombers failed to bomb. I don’t get it….
Last night was not one of the Yankees’ greatest nights. And it was not the greatest night to be a Yankee fan. I was all excited to see my baby pitch, and he was bad. The offense struggled. And the Smelly Sox who cheat at Fenway won, so now the Yankee lead is 6.5. 6.5. I guess I don’t have too much to complain about. We still have a cozy lead. And even though he stunk, I still got to stare at Mitre. Hm. I guess it is okay. They have to lose sometimes. They just better win tonight. I don’t have too much work, so I am planning on watching the whole game nice and relaxed. Make it a good one for me, boys! GO YANKEES!!

Frustrating Game For Yanks As They Lose To Jays
“Frustrating game” is the understatement of the year. It was a ridiculous game that had me screaming my lungs out at the TV. The Yankees booted every play! 4 errors and about 30 misplays? Where did my Yankees go? Who are these little leaguers that can’t catch a thing? Why did they have to suck when Mitre was pitching? It all bothered me. The Yankees lost to the Blue Jays 14-8. Ugh.
Pitching Analysis: Sergio Mitre, my love, started for the Yankees yesterday. His line looks ugly: 4 & 1/3 innings, 11 hits, 11 runs, 9 earned, 2 walks and 5 K’s. Those numbers are misleading. The Yankees made so many errors behind Sergio. But they also screwed up easy plays, forcing Mitre to get about 5 outs per inning. Now, I love Sergio Mitre with all my heart and would be his darling baby in a microsecond, but Sergio Mitre is not the world’s greatest pitcher. With him on the mound, the defense should have made every play. They were inexcusably horrible. Poor Sergio. He was so frustrated, and a pitcher knows he is not supposed to show it. But really, they were pathetic behind him. Even though he allowed 9 earned runs, I thought he pitched well. He struckout 5, he induced plenty of ground balls, although thanks to the defense they didn’t translate as outs, and the fly balls that were hit were bloopers that were not caught. I honestly think he pitched well, and I’m not just saying that because I drool over him. His sinker was sinking, his curveball was curving and throwing hitters off balance. And he did not allow a home run. If you did not watch the game and just saw Mitre’s line, you would say he was back to his old stinky self. But if you watched it, you should agree with me that he pitched pretty well yesterday.

The Yankee bullpen did not get the job done. Mark Melancon walked in about 70 runs and was just awful. Newcomer Josh Towers hit Randy Ruiz in the face which created a bloody mess. That was scary. Towers was not too good, but he did finish out the game for the Yanks.
Defensive Analysis: This is not an exaggeration: Yesterday’s game was the worst defensively played game I have ever seen in my young life. 4 errors, 700 misplays, it was disgusting. Jerry made an error, Cano made an error, Swisher lost a ball in the sun, Tex totally missed a grounder, Mitre struckout Encarnacion who reached first on the wild pitch, Hairston paused with the ball and got no one out, Melky and Damon collided, bloopers were dropping in in front of everyone, it was gross. Poor Sergio. My poor baby. They were forcing him to throw more pitches, and I am still worried about his little arm, and forced him to get more outs. It was dreadful. Girardi better have some kind of meeting. I hope this is not a product of being so far ahead in the division. Don’t get lazy, boys. Play like you are behind. Catch the damn ball!!!
Offensive Analysis: If the fielders actually caught the balls, the Yankees offense would have been enough. They scored 8 runs on 13 hits. Jeter got 3 more hits, Melky had a 3-run homer after colliding with Johnny in the outfield, which sent me into hysterics. I was worried about them. But they were okay, as Melky showed with his homer. The Yankees were hitting, they just lost for other reasons, ahem,,,catch the ball, ahem…They didn’t look dead at the plate like they do in many of their loses.

The only bright spots about the game for me were that, well first of all I got to stare open-mouthed at Sergio Mitre, which is a treat I will take any day. Melky had a 3-run homer after colliding with Damon, so he is okay. And I actually got to see my Cervelli again!!! He caught at the end of the game. Boy, did I miss him. Everything about him is cute. I was glad to see him play. Hopefully he will catch at least 1 game in the doubleheader today. I will be very upset if he doesn’t. The Smelly Sox won yesterday, so our lead is back to 7.5 games. But hopefully we can increase that lead today. I guess they all just had a bad day on the field. It happens, but to the Yankees? No. But yes. They are just human. We have just been spoiled with perfectly played games all year long. I guess they can mess up once in awhile. ONCE IN AWHILE, boys, that was the “once” and the rest of the season is the “awhile.” So be perfect for the rest of the year, okay? Hahaha. I still love you guys. Especially you, Sergio. love you. 😉 GO YANKEES!!!
**Note** I was so caught up in my frustration over the game that I forgot something: I would just like to thank everyone for making me #11 on the Latest Leader’s list. I can’t believe I was even on it, not to mention that high up on my first time. What A Boring Game
Yanks are 1-Hit Versus Jays
Last night’s game was the most boring game I have seen all year. Nothing good happened for the Yankees. It was very frustrating. Ugh. The Yankees’ winning streak was snapped last night as they lost to the Blue Jays 6-0.
Pitching Analysis: Joba Chamberlain had another short start for the Yankees. He did not pitch well. He went 3 innings and allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. He threw about 60 pitches. Do the math and that is 20 pitches per inning. That is unacceptible. After 3 innings, Mark Melancon took over and gave up 1 run in 2 innings. He was absolutely wild. He hit like 10 batters. He could not control anything he put inside. Jonathan Albaladejo went next, and he pitched a scoreless inning. Michael Dunn pitched next, and by this time I wasn’t watching. He gave up 2 runs in 2/3 of an inning. Last came Edwar Ramirez, who pitched a scoreless inning and a third. The pitching wasn’t great last night, but all the Jays needed to win was 1 run.

Defensive Analysis: The defense didn’t help Joba out too much. There were plays that should have been made that the defense screwed up. In the first inning, Aaron Hill hit a ball to deep right that Hinske ran to get under. He jumped, and the ball went off his glove. Hill had a double. It was not the easiest play to make, but I am confident that Swisher would have made it, however silly he had to be to glove it. Later in the inning, Ramiro Pena made an error on a routine grounder. He lifted his glove, anticipating a high hop on the artificial turf, but instead the ball stayed down and got through, allowing a run to score. It was not a pretty defensive night for the Yanks.

Offensive Analysis: Where were the Bombers last night? The Yankees looked dead at the plate. The only hit was off the bat of Ramiro Pena. That was it, accept for 3 walks scattered into the lineup. The Yankees failed to make adjustments last night. They stared at strikes, fell behind, and wound up striking out. It was awful and upseting to watch, which is why I didn’t watch the whole game. After 6 innings I called it quits. 1 hit? Come on.
It was an ugly game all around last night. But luckily, the Red Sox lost. That must kill them. The Yankees finally lost a game, and then they lose too. Ha. I guess the Yankee loss was not so bad. I mean, they didn’t play well, but it didn’t cost them anything. It cost me time, though. It was boring. Whatever. I am sure the Yankees will bounce back with another 7 game winning streak. It seems like they always do. 1 loss in every 8 games? Hey, I’ll take it. GO YANKEES!!!

Yanks Take 1st of 4, Finally Fill That Win Column
YEAH!!! It took the Yanks 9 games, but they finally did it. The Yankees beat the Red Sox last night by the score of 13-6. All day I was waiting and waiting for 7:00. I was DYING to see this game. And the results were even better than I had hoped for.
Pitching Analysis: Joba Chamberlain was a bit shaky last night, but he did pick up the win. He went just 5 innings, and gave up 4 runs on 6 hits. But the bad thing was he walked 7 men in 5 innings! It wasn’t Joba’s best start, but he gave the team the chance to win. Good enough for me.
To lead off the 3rd inning, Joba allowed a homer to Pedroia. I was so mad when that happened. I was SO close to throwing my shoe, but I caught myself. Then in the 4th, Casey Kotchman hit a 2-run homer. Settle down, Joba!
After the Yankees had an offensive outburst in the 4th, Joba got into some trouble in the 5th. He wound up walking the bases loaded, which was stupid because he had a huge lead. He made it out of the inning having only given up 1 run. The bullpen did a nice job last night, Robertson, Coke, and Melancon had scorless outings. Rookie Anthony Claggett pitched the 9th, and gave up 2 runs. He was the guy who gave up 8 runs to Cleveland in a 20 to something Yankee loss.
Although he struggled, Joba made it out of some tought jams, and was surely pumped.
Defensive Analysis: The defense was fine last night. Even though Joba was laboring, the defense didn’t get lazy. They were able to make all the plays. In the 3rd, Ortiz grounded into a nice 4-6-3 double play. I love seeing him struggle. He went 0 for 5 and left 9 men on base last night. Ha! I guess he can’t do anything unless he’s all juiced up.

Offensive Analysis: The Yankee bats were on fire last night. They scored 13 runs on 18 hits! I felt bad for Smoltz, though. It’s sad because he used to be one of the best in the game, and now it’s like he is struggling and doesn’t know when to quit. But I had to get over that because my Yanks really needed this game.
After Posada’s baserunning blunder in the 3rd, I thought for sure that the Yankees would lose all life. Thank God I was wrong. In the 3rd, Damon homered to tie the game at 1. In the 4th, the Yankees were trailing again. Posada had a leadoff double, and scored on Cano’s single. Then Swish walked. So my man Melky came up to the plate. And then the game completely turned around. Melky smashed a 3-run homer into the second deck in right, giving the Yankees a 5-3 lead. Later in this inning, Posada hit a 3-run homer. He definetely made up for the baserunning mistake. The Yankees scored 8 runs in the 4th, and kept putting on runs throughout the game, winning in blowout fashion.

This game could not have been better for me. They got their first win against the Sox! The Yankees totally demolished the Red Sox. It was great. I woke up this morning with a smile on my face, and I’m ready for the game tonight. The heroes for last nights game are the Yankee lineup, for making the Red Sox look horrible, and mostly Melky Cabrera for providing the shift in momentum that lead to the Yankee victory. The Yankees now have a 3.5 game lead in the division. Hey, I know it was just 1 game, but it was a BIG one for the Yankees. I know the next 3 are going to be tough, but I know we are ready. LET’S GET THOSE SMELLY SOX!

Yankees Lose 3 Straight and Played Badly….AGAIN
Am I being too hard on the Yankees? I mean, they only lost 3 in a row. To answer my own question, I’m not being too hard on them. It’s the way they lost. Game 1, ok bad luck, but they still didn’t hit the ball. Game 2 was very upseting. No pitching. And yesterday, with the hottest pitcher on the hill, we lost in an embarrassing blowout. Since when do the White Sox actually hit? Since when do the Bronx Bombers fail to bomb? Obviously, since Thursday. It’s starting to make me angry. I shouldn’t have to throw my shoes at the TV 3 days in a row. Anyway, the Yankees lost 14-4. I don’t even want to recall the game, but for the sake of the blog I have to.
Pitching Analysis: A.J. was way off yesterday. He gave up 6 runs in the 2nd inning. Who does that? Just get someone out! I know A.J. can’t be good every time out there, but he shouldn’t be blown out! I can’t even talk about it. He gave up 7 runs on 10 hits and 2 bases loaded walks to the #9 hitter in 4 & 2/3 innings. There is no excuse for that. His command was all off, and he and Posada just were not in sync.
The bullpen stank as well. Bruney gave up a run on 3 hits in 1 & 2/3 innings. Robertson pitched 2/3 an inning of, omg scorless baseball? What a novel idea! Phil Coke was terrible yesterday. Injust 1/3 of an inning, he gave up 6 runs on 3 walks and 4 hits. Disgusting. But Mark Melancon pitched a scorless 2/3 of an inning. Maybe we’ll be seeing him late in the games soon. Overall, dreadful, disgusting, upseting pitching. Enough said.
Defensive Analysis: While Bruney was pitching, Jeter made an error on a routine play, and that sent Tim McCarver and the other idiots on Fox into a state of joy. SHUT THE F*** UP! Leave Jeter alone. He made an error! WOW! IT’S SO FUNNY! I hate when they are on Fox. All the commentators do is pick on the Yankees and mention the times they stank. Wait, this is the defense paragraph. The defense was nothing to speak about, it was hard to tell since they were chasing after balls most of the time anyway.
Offensive Analysis: There wasn’t any. That’s all.
Ok sorry. I’m just so aggrivated. On the bright side, Jerry Hairston had a nice Yankee debut, going 1 for 3 with a walk, RBI and a run. Jeter and Tex both got 2 hits, one of Tex’s was a 2-run single. Arod had 3 hits. I don’t get why Girardi played Ransom yesterday. He was ridiculously bad. He struck out 3 times in 4 at-bats. I couldn’t watch. In total they only got 8 hits. They were horrible with runners in scoring position. With bases loaded and no one out in the 6th, they only managed 1 run. That is not acceptible. Overall, the offense was disgusting.

Another huniliating loss for the Yankees. Before is seemed like all they were doing was winning, now all they are doing is losing. “L” is the new “W.” This has to stop. The lead is now only .5 of a game, and before today is over there probably won’t be a lead. They have to win now. That’s enough already. If I have to throw my shoe at the screen today, it will be thrown so hard that it’ll break the TV, go through the wall, and snap all the trees outside in half. I’m not kidding. (I may be exaggerating a bit, though.) Come on Yankees, win! The fate of my living room depends on it!
Pitching Struggles as Yankees Lose Game 2
Mitre Had Nothing, and Yankees Failed to Get Big Hit
It was another frustrating loss for the Yankees. Last night’s loss was the first time they lost 2 games in a row since the Angels swept them before the break. I hope this is not a downward slide for the Yankees. They lost to the White Sox 10-5 last night.
Pitching Analysis: There is no other way to say it, but the pitching was utterly dreadful last night. Sergio Mitre toed the rubber for the third time in a Yankee uniform. Since the Yankees did not get a pitcher before the trade deadline, a lot of pressure is now on Mitre to perform well. He did not perform well yesterday. He pitched 3 innings, and gave up 5 runs on 7 hits. He was missing with his sinker and became very predictacble for the White Sox hitters. He failed to make adjustments during the game. Many times, we have seen CC and A.J. go out there without their best stuff, and they manage to grind out the game and give the team a chance to win, because they knew the quality of the stuff they had, and they made adjustments. That is what separates smart pitchers and good pitchers.
After Mitre struggled through 3, David Robertson was called upon. He pitched 2 innings and allowed just 1 run, but recorded the loss. Alfredo Aceves was next, and he was horrible. He pitched 1 & 2/3 innings, and allowed 4 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks. Aceves has not pitched in awhile due to shoulder fatigue, and I wonder if he was feeling some last night, because he was uncharacteristically bad. Mark Melancon was the only bright spot for Yankee pitching last night, going 1 & 1/3 innings of scorless ball, while picking up 2 strikeouts along the way. I really hope Mitre can pick things up and perform, because the Yanks are counting on him.
Defensive Analysis: It was not the greatest defensively played game. In the bottom of the 2nd, Podsednik bunted a ball that Mitre was going to field. Mitre rushed to the ball, so quickly that I thought he had a chance to get the out at second. But he fell down on his tushy, and failed to get any out at all.

In the bottom of the 7th, Johnny Damon made a fabulous catch to rob Carlos Quentin of an extra-base hit. Johnny is always trying. It seems like he never gives up in a game. I hope the Yankees are smart and sign Damon, because he is too valuable to this club to let go of.
Offensive Analysis: After the tough loss in game 1, I was hoping that the Yankees would go out there in the first inning with a vengeance and score a bunch of runs. They did. Jeter and Damon singled, Tex doubled, Arod got an RBI groundout, Matsui singled, and by the end of the inning the Yankees had 3 runs, which Mitre soon gave back.
In the 4th, the Yankees were down 5-3, and Eric Hinske hit a 2-run homer to tie the game at 5. But after that, the Yankee bats went dead. The Yankees only managed 3 hits through the rest of the game. They had opportunities to come back in innings where the leadoff man was on, but they failed to get the big hit.
It was not a good game last night. It made it worse that the Red Sox won, narrowing the Yankees’ lead to just 1.5 games. Yikes! It’s getting a bit scary. The Yankees better pull themselves together, because you cannot go through a bad stretch in the AL East. This division is too good. With A.J. on the hill today, the Yankees look to get back on the right track, and I’m with them all the way. GO YANKEES!!!
Sloppy Ball and 3 Hours I Won’t Get Back
Yankees Lose to Rays Due to a Sloppy-Played Game
You know, I wait all day to watch the Yankee game, and when it comes on I sit in the same spot for 3 hours taking notes on everything that happens. When the Yankees play a game as bad as the played last night, I feel that I was cheated. I invested 3 hours of my life, and this is what I get? A sloppy, poorly played game that results in a loss. When the Yanks lost to the A’s the other day, I didn’t feel this way. At least they played well and tried to make a comeback. But they just were beaten. Last night, they beat themselves. I’m not taking anything away from the Rays, but the Yankees handed them that game. It’s disgusting. The final score was 6-2.
Pitching Analysis: CC Sabathia took the hill last night, and he really struggled. He allowed a run in the second on a sac fly by Navarro, giving them a lead that was never relinquished. In the 3rd, Arod threw a ball crazy which allowed to a run. By the end of the 3rd the Rays had a 3-0 lead. In the 5th, after a 1-2-3 4th I thought CC was settling down, but then Evan Longoria hit a solo homer. In the 6th, Kapler lead off with a double. Then Bartlett hit a liner to Tex, who knocked it down, but no one was covering at first! Bartlett was safe, and Kapler scored. Then Bartlett scored on a ball that Swisher let play him in the outfield. That was all for CC.
CC had nothing to feel good about yesterday.
When Girardi puts Melancon in, you know he is giving up the game. But he actually pitched well, throwing 2 & 1/3 innings of shutout ball. That was the only bright thing about last night.
Defensive Analysis: This was by far the worst defensively played game I have seen the Yankees play all year. Jeter and Arod made throwing errors. Arod was probably distracted by Kate Hudson. Focus! In the 5th, a ball was hit to right that was tailing toward the line. Swisher was tracking it down, and decided to be a hot dog. He slid when it was apparent that he did not have to, and the ball came out of his glove. It was a fair ball, and it led to a runner on third base. Then in the 6th, he screwed up again. A ball bounced in front of him for a blooper, and as the ball was rolling, Swisher let it get past him! He had to chase a ball that he should’ve picked up! That scored on that.
The defense was horrendous. When the pitcher is laboring, most likely the defense will lose focus and mess up. Pitching and defense go hand-in-hand, and the Yankees had neither last night.

Offensive Analysis: It was utterly disgusting. When Jeter leadoff the game, he battled into a 3-2 count, and then looked at a pitch right down the middle for strike 3. I had a feeling after that at-bat how this game would be for the Yanks: Ugly. Against a struggling Kazmir, the Yankees only managed 1 run on 5 hits. Hideki Matsui had both RBI’s last night. The offense was dead last night. They just went up there, made out, and had no drive to win. I wish Francisco Cervelli could’ve played in that game. He always provided a spark for the team when they needed one.
Joe Girardi should have done something to spark the team. He should’ve made a huge fuss with an umpire and gotten himself thrown out of the game. No knock on Melancon, but putting him in showed that he was giving up the game. With the Yankees incredible offense, they are never out of the game. But with no spark yesterday, they were.
It was a very disappointing, sloppy game. I wish I could take those 3 hours back. The Yankees owe us all a better game today. At least the Red Sox lost, so the standings for them did not change. But the Yankees can’t depend on them losing; they have to win. I hope the Yanks bounce back with like 5 runs in the first and a solid pitching performance. And better defense! COME ON GUYS! GO OUT THERE AND WIN! WE CAN DO IT! HURRRAAAAHHH!!!
